He made goal-line blocks though.

If any team had one Simpson, the goal line technology would become irrelevant. Eat s*** Sepp.

Agree to disagree I guess. I just feel he was often the scapegoat because people didn't like his personality. I like fullbacks who don't always dive in and give away fouls.

Fair enough. You can't be deemed a scapegoat when you keep playing terribly though IMO. Same goes for Santon and Cissé.
I dunno

Simpson wasn't as bad as people made out but he certainly wasn't what I'd call good. He was just a bang average player.

Re: Debuchy part-exchange with Arsenal, who would you take?
I'll agree with later posts that he reflects an average footballer, but this comment was bang on. He was one of the most passive defenders I've ever watched play. I don't know if he was afraid of getting beaten by an attacker, or if he just felt it was better tactically to collapse into the box, but he was almost unwilling to attempt a tackle, and so often fell back onto the goal line to prepare for a block rather than mark his man.Chiene wrote:He never put in any tackles and rarely stopped crosses. All he did was run away from the attacker and invite balls into the box. He was an absolute shambles defensively and his attacking play was embarrassing. Comfortably one of our worst players when he was with us, hence why we let him run down his contract and leave for nothing which was precisely what he was worthCisse's Overheating Torso wrote:
I stand by these things, are you saying he was weak or unfit? Physically he was in good condition and he used to put in an ok amount of tackles and could force a winger down the byeline. He's nowhere near great but the way some of you talk he was terrible/the weakest player in a team that often contained the ilk of Shola, Williamson, Raylor, Saylor, Guthrie etc etc

Everyone disagrees with me, this must be how Mifune feels

I'm going to assume that we're still trying to negotiate a swap in the debuchy deal hence why they haven't announced his signing yet?

Simpson only did what Parpoo told him to. Back off and let them cross.

at that time* if you'd surveyed all of our fans and asked "where's the weak link ine the starting XI"?
everyone would have said Simpson (and it would have been true)
*and still now

I dont want Campbell on loan, would be idiotic considering it would probably cut a chunk out of the Debuchy fee and we are used as feeder for arsenal. Its like being double shafted.

That was tweeted by a nobody...
Re: Debuchy part-exchange with Arsenal, who would you take?
Makes very little sense if it is true, unless we have assurances from someone that they'll sign for us in January and Campbell is just being used as a stop gap until then.

Jesus Christ ill be so disappointed in the club if it's just a pathetic loan without an option to buy. It's not like he is the quality of Lukaku Abeid scored more goals in the Greek league ffs
