Re: Your ideal (realistic) replacement for Pardew?
I had a thought that perhaps the rumoured payout clause in Pardew's contract could be top 10 related, i.e. if he finishes outside of the top 10 he can be fired with less/little/no compensation. No idea whether it is that or not, but it would make sense
Re: Your ideal (realistic) replacement for Pardew?
Potentially. When he signed the 8 year deal, I'm sure people were talking about pay-off clauses, like if the deal was terminated he'd only get 1 year's pay or something. But that might've been speculation. Certainly, signing an 8 year deal with no pay off stipulations would be bad business from Ashley. For all his failings, the business side is usually pretty spot on, so I'd be surprised if there wasn't some kind of reduced compensation agreement.Beatski wrote:I had a thought that perhaps the rumoured payout clause in Pardew's contract could be top 10 related, i.e. if he finishes outside of the top 10 he can be fired with less/little/no compensation. Surely if that is true he would have been disposed of after last season (as he should have been) for failing to finish in the top 10.Beatski wrote:I had a thought that perhaps the rumoured payout clause in Pardew's contract could be top 10 related, i.e. if he finishes outside of the top 10 he can be fired with less/little/no compensation. good point. but then there was the whole 'he's allowed one bad season' rumour, also wanting stability, and giving Pardew chance to properly build towards something (which he's utterly failed at).TJR wrote:Surely if that is true he would have been disposed of after last season (as he should have been) for failing to finish in the top 10.Beatski wrote:I had a thought that perhaps the rumoured payout clause in Pardew's contract could be top 10 related, i.e. if he finishes outside of the top 10 he can be fired with less/little/no compensation. I'd rather s*** in my hands and clap than have Poyet as manager.

I dunno

Why on Earth would people want Poyet? People hailing him as a miracle man for masterminding Sunderland's escape from relegation, whilst simultaneously forgetting he was the man that got them in that horrendous position in the first place.

Yeah, Di Canio had nothing to do with that!

Thought it was their f***ing awful Director of Football, Di Fanti or whatever he's called. Mackems hate him nearly as much as we hate Kinnear.Bodacious Benny wrote:He was responsible for the players they signed in summer.B4E wrote:

Re: Your ideal (realistic) replacement for Pardew?
The Mackems have been destined for a relegation battle for years, hardly fair to blame Poyet and Di Canio for it. There's been a disgusting culture at the club since Bruce was there, it's been well documented. Di Canio tried to stamp it out and the players got him sacked, Poyet has went on record saying the troubles run deep. The players this year have only turned up when it's mattered - cup runs, the derbies, when relegation looked certain. The rest of the time they look completely unarsed. Personally think even if they stay up they'll struggle next year unless they get completely gutted from top to bottom and rid the club of the player power that undermines the management. I actually think Poyet has done wonders there, he's well and truly polished a turd.

Don't worry, Shearer has recommended Brucey for the Man U job to show Giggs the ropes. Can you imagine?!
