Your ideal (realistic) replacement for Pardew?

Post by Goat »

By realistic, I mean managers like Mourinho are obviously not reasonable choices.

Go.

If this was a week ago Bielsa <cry> but it looks like he's off to Marseille

Edit: But ideally someone a bit mad who would look to make us attack and play with a bit of spark again getting rid of the apathy that haunts most supporters about us atm.

Hmm. Need someone who has recently had the stuffing knocked out of their reputation and is so overjoyed to be allowed to 'rebuild' themselves in the top tier they'll follow any remit...

Someone who understands tactics, squad rotation and setting up to get the best out of the players at your disposal. Also someone who can motivate the players. Oh and someone who doesn't come across as a cronut, doesn't headbutt opposition players, isn't a compulsive lier and isn't someone who blames everyone but himself.

In summary, pretty much anyone other than Pardew.

A continental style manager.

Or a damp squib, couldn't be worse than Pardew.

Genuine question - do you think many good managers (whether the 'up and coming' type or with a fair bit of experience) would want to work at the club and under Ashley? Sure, the level of support and general presence in English football we have might be attractive, but would clubs like Aston Villa, West Brom or West Ham appear a 'safer' option?

Do the past few years of the way this club has been run detract from the positive elements of the club?

Has to be a continental manager for me, given the players we're trying to sign. Also desperately need new coaches though too.

Thomas Tuchel would be perfect, but we wont be the only ones going for him if he was to leave Mainz.

Tuchel would be awesome <awe>

I would also take Karl Robinson, Eddie Howe or even Steve McClaren from the lower leagues. All play good football and are really good coaches on the training ground. All would come to us as well.

This thread is going to be an awful lot shorter than the Pardew Out one. Quality managers won't come here, and while Pardew is doing badly there an awful lot of worse managers currently in and out of work at present. The 'well it can't be any worse' logic is absolutely incorrect sadly.

Ideal world: Laudrup, Bielsa, Rosler

More realistically: Jol, O'Leary, Curbishley, McClaren (I don't want any of them really)

Eddie Howe would be an excellent replacement. I'd like us to give someone young a chance.

I had a dream about two days ago that we sacked Pardew and replaced him with Sherwood.

If we were picking someone from lower leagues then Pressley from Cov would be such a good pick, he has them playing really good football, is used to working under pressure in regards to owners and fans and as well as this he is all about passing play (got into a touchline bust up with another league 1 manager cause he kept saying they were like prehistoric football to him)
