Re: Your Player Ratings vs Sunderland
Krul - 6 - Had a fairly good game, despite the score and sorry excuse of a defence in front of him. His Pulis era Stoke free-kicks from half-way were decent.
Debuchy - 4.5 - Decent defensively, but oddly lacking on the attack, succeeded in just a single attacking third pass.
Williamson - 4 - A mix of effective and utterly hopeless, should never be paired with Taylor, and needs to reign in his hoof again.
Taylor - 4 - As above, except should never be paired with Williamson, luckily Taylor's passing is generally smart/safe and accurate though.
Santon - 2.5 - Destroyed by Johnson and seemingly useless without a Gouffran/Gutierrez protecting him, which isn't a good quality for a supposed fullback. Please keep him away from set-piece duty.
Anita - 4 - Went missing when we needed him to step-up. Needless penalty to give away, and that gave the visitors the momentum. Still managed couple of decent interceptions and balls into the box though.
Tioté - 6 - Tried to do the work of 3 men, but for all the effort he put in all he could muster of note was a single decent shot in a sea of wasted shots and failed attempts to emulate Cabaye's wide range of pinpoint passing.
Sissoko - 5 - Often wasteful, but put in a good shift defensively and took the game to them when he got the ball, resulting in some good chances from the right. Probably delivered our best pieces, but that's not saying much.
Ben Arfa - 4.5 - Less greedy than usual, but still wasteful. Probably made the most chances of any of our players, but not of enough quality to get anything from them.
Sammy - 5.5 - Pretty much our only attacking player with any spark this game, yet the first to be sacrificed, perhaps understandably since his involvement, though good, was sporadic.
Shola - 2 - Usually I'm up to at least try to defend Shola and the role he's been brought on to play, but it was a poor choice for him to lead the line alone.
De Jong - 5.5 - Clearly off the pace, but showed good signs by getting in good positions, getting shots off and creating a chance or two.
Dummett - 5 - Did more defending in his < 30 mins than Santon did in twice that.
Marveaux - N/A
Pardew - 2 - Dealt a bad hand by injury, suspension and the sale of Cabaye, and still managed to under-perform in the circumstances. Our defence lacked organisation and Pardew persisted with the Taylor-Williamson CB pairing that is so slow and easily undone. Our attack was toothless, with our only threat from the previous game, Rémy, out owing to suspension, yet Pardew decides to go with a similar set-up but with Shola upfront and Ben Arfa switching roles with Sissoko, hoping that pinging balls at Shola's isolated head would come to anything. This resulted, again, in no creativity or penetration, save for the occasional spark from Sammy in the first half, and our players, not having the patience to make the space or perhaps under command to do so, firing in innocuous long shot after long shot.

Re: Your Player Ratings vs Sunderland
I've never rated him but always thought he would come good once he got used to the prem and aged a bit. He hasn't improved at all really, but I'd still give him some time (maybe). If we got a good offer though I'd sell. Useless defender and flatters to decieve massively in attack.Minty Fresh wrote:Anyone else think he might be s***? He's looked completely off the pace recently, and he been subbed off a lot.
Plus he's the same age as José was when he was absolutely beasting it for us so he's lost the youth card as far as I'm concerned.
The 'scapegoat' utter s**** gets on my t*** too.

I've never rated him much either but he's better than the horrendous performances that he's been putting in recently. Clearly something's up with his confidence/fitness or whatever.Marcel Desailly wrote:I've never rated him but always thought he would come good once he got used to the prem and aged a bit.
