Your Player Ratings vs Man City (LC)

Post by Al-Calo »

Rate the players, leave a comment and they'll be collated for use in the TFI match report and database. The more people that leave ratings the better it will be. It's important that you don't exaggerate player ratings, if you do it defeats the purpose of us collecting the data, so be as objective as possible. Clearly ridiculous ratings aren't included, so giving undeserved 1s or 10s won't skew ratings. Also, use the order I've posted, as it's a lot harder to collect the data otherwise.

Don't just submit blanket ratings like "1 for everyone", the point of this is to rate individual performances.

Rate in multiples of 0.5 up to a maximum of 10 (7, 7.5, 8, etc). Anything else is rounded to the nearest .5 anyway.

Use this order. Please.

Elliot -

Janmaat -
Coloccini -
Dummett -
Haïdara -

R. Taylor -
Abeid -
Colback

Obertan -
Armstrong -
Aarons -

Ameobi -
Sissoko -
Rivière -

Pardew -

Use the order above.

For consistency, please try to rate players roughly along the lines of this scale. 1s and 10s should be extremely rare and only for performances that could be considered among the best/worst of all time or the absolute best/worst that could be done.
10 - A godlike performance, such as getting a hat-trick of goals/assists or being utterly dominant at the back. This should be a rarity.
9 - Outstanding performance.
8 - Very good performance.
7 - Good performance.
6 - High average.
5.5 - Average average. Use this as the baseline.
5 - Low average.
4 - Poor, perhaps with the occasional bright moment.
3 - Very bad, several mistakes with little to no redemption.
2 - Horrendous, almost as bad as it is possible to perform.
1 - Among the worst performances of all time. This should be extremely rare.

Elliot - 8 - Faultless.

Janmaat - 8
Coloccini - 8
Dummett - 9 - Keep him CB! What a heroic performance, and I'm glad Pardew singled him out at the end.
Haïdara - 8 - Defended very well, a little wasteful going forward.

R. Taylor - 8 - A bit off the pace understandably, but that block at the end was phenomenal.
Abeid - 9 - Brilliant.
Colback- 8

Obertan - 9 - Wow.
Armstrong - 7
Aarons - 8

Ameobi - 8
Sissoko - 9
Rivière - 7

Pardew - 10 - What more could he have done? The subs of Sammy and Sissoko were key in us continuing to pose a threat.
I love the Gouff.

Elliot - 7.5

Janmaat - 7.5
Coloccini - 7
Dummett - 7
Haïdara - 8

Defence - City had a lot of chances and our defence at times struggled. No mistakes though which was key. They looked much better the more the game went on.

R. Taylor - 6.5 - Gave the ball away a lot with crosses to no one, excellent block though. Did well considering
Abeid - 8 - Fantastic, hopefully gets a few more games
Colback 6.5 - Just foul anything that moves

Obertan - 7.5
Armstrong - 6 - Did what he could really, completely isolated
Aarons - 8 - Brilliant first half

Ameobi - 7.5
Sissoko - 8 - What a goal and continued to play well.
Rivière - 7

Pardew - 7.5

I'm sure people will see these as harsh <laugh>

Elliot - 8

Janmaat - 8
Coloccini - 7.5
Dummett - 8.5, Was fearing the worst when I saw the line up with Dummett at CB. Proved me wrong. Fantastic performance. Him and Colo kept Dzeko and Jovetic quiet and nullified the City threat.
Haïdara - 8, An absolute beast at the back. Some fantastic defending.

R. Taylor - 7, Not the best player we had out there today but played some neat passes and gave his all. Impressed he lasted the 90 minutes and his goal line clearance was key.
Abeid - 8, Absolutely bossed the midfield. Amazed at his ability to perform so well against such quality opposition. Deserves a chance in the league.
Colback - 6

Obertan - 9, Loving the new Obertan <awe>
Armstrong - 6, A harsh rating for Armstrong but he couldn't really get in the game. Great effort on goal in the dying seconds of the first half.
Aarons - 8, Took his goal tremendously. So lively and such a threat.

Ameobi - 7
Sissoko - 8, Two games in a row Sissoko has been an utter powerhouse. Please continue this form. <awe>
Rivière - 7, held the ball up very well.

Pardew - 9. 100% credit to Pardew here. Everyone was slating his starting 11 and he proved us wrong. Fantastic use of the subs to maintain the pressure on City. <applause>

Elliot - 8 Played extremely well. Dat punch <awe>

Janmaat - 7
Coloccini - 8
Dummett - 8 thought he would get torn a new one pre-match, amazing showing
Haïdara - 8

R. Taylor - 7 To block that shot on the line without using his hands, amazing.
Abeid - 8
Colback 7

Obertan - 9 Where has he been hiding?
Armstrong - 6 Unlucky with his chance, bright though.
Aarons - 8 Such a well taken goal, looks a threat whenever he plays

Ameobi - 6
Sissoko - 8 Showed Yaya how it's done in his own backyard <awe>
Rivière - 7

Pardew - 9 Finally learnt how to use substitutions effectively it seems and picked the team to perfectly counter Citys threats. Hopefully this the start of him seemingly knowing what he is doing.

Elliot - 8

Janmaat - 8 - Solid all might
Coloccini - 8 - ^
Dummett - 8 - ^
Haïdara - 8 - ^

R. Taylor - 7.5 - Brilliant considering it was his first senior competitive match in two years, an extra .5 for the bollock block.
Abeid - 8.5 - My MOTM, absolutely bossed the midfield.
Colback - 7 - A solid performance. He seems to be getting back to the level he was at during the first few games.

Obertan - 8 - His alien masters definitely replaced him with an advanced clone.
Armstrong - 6 - Was to isolated and was never going to be able to hold the ball up given his stature
Aarons - 8 - Direct, quick and highly confident. He could be brilliant in a few years.

Ameobi - 7 - Did what he was told to do well.
Sissoko - 8 - The guy is a beast. Hopefully he can keep this up.
Rivière - 7.5 - Held the ball up well to relieve pressure.

Pardew - 8.5 - Despite the line-up looking awful, you could see what he was trying to do. Three players in the middle of the park who are solid defensively and won't venture too far, but also have an eye for a pass that one of the (quick) front three could run onto. I think we got the rub of the green tonight, if that Colo slice had gone in it could have been a completely different game, but in the end he sent the team out with a plan that worked to perfection. I also thought he made subs at good timings, obviously Sammy for Aarons could have occurred later but better to err on the side of caution.

Elliot - 8 - Dependable, a few good stops. First game not looking like a liability for us!

Janmaat - 6.5 - Starting to look more like an actual Debuchy replacement (except slower)
Coloccini - 7.5 - Strong, captain's performance
Dummett - 7.5 - Turns out he's not a left-back, sorry Pards. Should've got a pen and a goal, in 3 seconds.
Haïdara - 7 - Fine, decent attacking threat

R. Taylor - 7.5 - Gets a bonus mark for not looking out of his depth in his first game back after 2 years out. Solid.
Abeid - 7.5 - Yaya who?
Colback - 6 - Considering he's s****, he was relatively passable today

Obertan - 7.5 - Good game, should've got a penalty
Armstrong - 6.5 - Didn't do a great deal, but worked hard
Aarons - 8 - Talent <awe>

Ameobi - 7 - Worked hard, decent
Sissoko - 7.5 - Dat goal <awe>
Rivière - 7 - Worked hard and got rid of that s***ty mohawk, nice.

Pardew - 8 - Clearly motivated the team well, and they played well. Very disciplined too. 3 good wins in a week, it's a start.

Elliot - 7. Made some good saves.

Janmaat - 7. Great performance.
Coloccini - 8. Lead by example.
Dummett - 8. Fantastic game.
Haïdara - 7. Great game.

R. Taylor - 9. Outstanding performance. To comeback from 2 years out with all those setbacks and put in a shift like that is incredible. He's showed unbelievable character to even comeback nevermind put in a display like that. The goal line clearance was phenomenal, to not use his hands there was fantastic. You saw how much it meant to him at the end during his interview and then when he went of to the fans. It was a beautiful night for him and a heart warming occasion for all connected to Newcastle United.
Abeid - 8. He was brilliant. Bossed the midfield and had Yaya Toure in his back pocket. He's much better than Colback and arguably potentially better than Anita. We need to see more of him in the first team.
Colback - 6. He was our worst player on the night but still decent. He shouldn't retain his place at the weekend though, Abeid showed him what a great performance is.

Obertan - 9. Man of the match. Ran the show. Fantastic defensively and attacking wise. The transformation in him is remarkable.
Armstrong - 7. His movement was great and he showed glimpses of his class. Bullied Mangala who is nearly double his height.
Aarons - 8. Superb goal. Took it very well. This guy is going to go on to achieve great things in football.

Ameobi - 7. Did well when he came on, as lively as ever. Picked up where he left off at White Hart Lane.
Sissoko - 9. What an absolute f***ing beast of a man. He's an animal. Smashed up the midfield and scored an incredible goal.
Rivière - 7. His hold up play was very good.

Pardew - 8. Credit where its due. Managed to give some of the youngsters a chance and win the game. Now needs to realise the likes of Abeid and Aarons are better than his regular favourites such as Gouffran and Colback. Hopefully he'll do the right thing and start the players who deserve a start against Liverpool.

He put in as much effort as I've ever seen from anyone, and was integral in nearly everything good we did going forward

Pardew - 8 - As much as I hate the man, credit where it's due. He named a team that should've been thumped but the players clearly knew their roles and Pardew simply outfoxed Pellegrini. If we had a lengthy run of performances like that Pards could maybe win me over.

Elliot - 8 - Some great saves, commanding on crosses and good distribution. He actually played better than Krul has for most of this season.

Janmaat - 7 - So much energy, their attacking players hardly got a sniff down his side.
Coloccini - 7 - Barring that slice against the post he was brilliant, Colo is back <awe>
Dummett - 8 - Solid as a rock. Unlucky not to score, should have had a pen.
Haïdara - 7 - Good going forward, did most of his defending well too.

R. Taylor - 8 - Showed great energy and stamina considering how long he has been out. Clever in possession, just what we needed to help the youngsters through the game.
Abeid - 8 - Hardly put a foot wrong, he really deserves more chances than he gets.
Colback - 6 - The least effective of the midfield three but did his job.

Obertan - 8 - Man of the match. Full of energy and running, some great crossing. Unlucky not to be awarded a pen.
Armstrong - 6 - Worked his socks off, didn't see enough of the ball but that's expected in the formation we played. His movement was very clever, kind of reminds me of Michael Owen. Only prevented what looked a certain goal by a great tackle, he's got a real chance considering he is only 17.
Aarons - 7 - Took his goal well and looked a threat, hope he is fit for Saturday, I could see him having Johnson on toast.

Ameobi - 7 - Picked up where Aarons left off.
Sissoko - 8 - What a great goal, looks a different player.
Rivière - 7 - Did a great job in holding up the ball, looked strong and quick. Still shooting from ridiculously far out too <awe>

Pardew - 10 - Genuinely difficult to find fault with the tactics and the performance. We were all fuming when we saw the team but it was clear there was a plan to use the pace and movement to get at their awful defence. A lot of these fringe/youth players looked a lot better than the crap we normally see turning out in black and white most weekends (Gouffran anyone?) The fact that the team looked so weak on paper just goes to show how well drilled they were to get a result like that. Pardew's problem has never been getting the best out of seemingly average players, it's when he has to manage talented ones that he is found wanting. Anyway, a fantastic result and a great performance. 3 wins on the spin including wins away at Spurs and now City isn't half bad, especially when we was expecting to get humped <pards>
