Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
From nufc.com
Pap's your lot
Despite the closure of the transfer window for clubs in the United Kingdom, business can still be conducted in other leagues - including Russia.
And that now looks to be the most likely destination for Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse, with Rubin Kazan aiming to complete a permanent deal for the number 9 in the coming days.
The Senegalese forward has fallen from favour at SJP and his departure looked likely last month once the loan deal bringing Luuk De Jong to Tyneside was concluded.
However, interest from Turkey failed to materialise into bids matching the £8m+ asking price, the player was uninterested in moving to a Qatari club and various loan propositions as deadline day approached were rejected.
If Cisse does relocate to Rubin he'll join a club in the lower reaches of the Russian Premier League but still involved in the Europa League.
Whether his experience at a club located 450 miles east of Moscow will be any more positive than ex-Magpie Obafemi Martins remains to be seen - the Nigerian-born forward lasting just seven months of a three year deal before joining Birmingham City on loan in 2011.

Re: Cisse off to Rubin Kazan
It would be a shame, but it appears he's out of favour so he may as well leave. I don't know why we don't give him another chance. but there we go.

At the end of this season Adam Campbell and Adam Armstrong will be our strikers.
We can be like Liverpool and have AaA instead of SaS

Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
On FM he says he would rather not to play in Russia and Ukraine. What a liar
In all seriousness I think £8m is a good deal, but at the same time this summer we'll have to buy at least 3 strikers (that's if Remy, De Jong leave and Shola is released), and I can't see Ashley doing that <grim>

Is there anyone else we can ship out? I'm not sure our team is quite threadbare enough.

Like a seahorse in the night, he rides with haste to his beloved's domain.
He is the silent guardian, the practical idealist, the man of peace prepared for war.
He is a Mackem.

How's he gone from goal of the season to rat s*** ?
Ashley tells you it's raining. Do you look out the window?
Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
Makes no sense to sell him now, give him more starts this season and if he doesn't improve, sell him in the summer.
We've got nothing to lose or play for this season anyway.
Remy have a s*** time of it as well, so get him on the left and Cisse up front.

Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
If we're selling him now I sure as f*** hope we've got an agreed fee in the Rémy loan, and that court case needs to hurry up and get dealt with. According to nufc.com he's answering bail on the 17th, but tbc. And QPR are 2nd, presumably they'll have some clause to not sell if they return to the PL
.
I hope you like the cold, it's -20C there today.Jaiston wrote:Makes no sense to sell him now, give him more starts this season and if he doesn't improve, sell him in the summer.

Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
If we sell him then our first choice striker at the end of this season would be Adam Campbell
I would like to sell him, but we really need to bring in 2 top strikers in the summer, as well as 1 back up
EDIT: People have already pointed it out <facepalm>

£8m is decent like, it might be a case of striking while the iron is hot. The season is all but over [for the leadership] so why do we even need strikers? 12th place will be fine

Adam Armstrong will be a senior squad regular
Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
Let's not kid ourselves, Shola will sign a new contract <grim>.

Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
Might be better off with the two As up front. At least they'll try.
Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
Cisse is no great loss. £8m is good return.
However we've got to sign at least 2 strikers now. If Shola get's a new contract then there will be a riot.

Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
£8m is a lot more than we'll get before he doesn't score for the rest of the season and his valuation goes down in the summer.
I want rid of him but it would be idiotic to sell him if we don't have a fee agreed for Remy.
And Shola will obviously sign a new contract.

Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
I've renewed my season ticket for next year (I know, I know I probably shouldn't but I have), however the thought alone of Shola still being there genuinely makes me wonder whether I'd go to the match if I saw he was starting up front. He's that bad. He's that infuriating. There's just no point watching.MultipleJesuses wrote:£8m is a lot more than we'll get before he doesn't score for the rest of the season and his valuation goes down in the summer.

Re: Cisse likely off to Rubin Kazan
Meh, get rid now. He's decent-ish but we really need to splash out on a proper number 9, get some of that mythical quality back to the number. 8m is more than we'll ever get from him after this window and we're limping over the line anyway - may as well just focus on next season.
Of course the likelihood is we sell him, sign some nobody in the summer hoping they'll be amazing and then Mike keeps the rest (which he's well within his rights to do considering the debt the club owes him).
f*** it's depressing supporting us at the moment <grim>

Fenerbahce are putting together a last-minute package to sign Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse, 28, before the Turkish transfer window closes on Monday.
