Didn't Brian Deane (?) say something similar about Pardew?

Yep he did.Yacob wrote:Didn't Brian Deane (?) say something similar about Pardew?
Maybe he was the best of a bad bunchnufc1991 wrote:Its not really like that mate, they ask you who's the best tactician you've worked under etc.. then the player gives their answer.Or Lovenkrands was being polite.
haha could be- I know he had McLeish & Advocaat at Rangers. Obviously Pards & Hughton at us, don't know who at Schalke, Hughton & Clark at Birmingham, and Olsen at Denmark. Hardly stand outs I supposeMaybe he was the best of a bad bunch![]()
Who else has he had?
Dick Advocaat's probably the most high profile, or Alex McLeish. Pardew was the best he had here (Kinnear, Hughton and Shearer being the others).Bodacious Benny wrote:Maybe he was the best of a bad bunchnufc1991 wrote:

It's easier to contend for a record like that when you play your entire career at the club and have 300+ appearances.AbsolutelyGlorious wrote:He hasn't started the last two, the one before he was subbed off first half because we were 1-0 up and Tiote got sent off. He scored against them the season before last, the season before he scored two and got an assist, the season before we were in the Championship, but the season before that he scored in both matches. It's not an urban legend at all, only Jackie Milburn has scored more goals for us in the Derby.I'm with Colo wrote: Shola hasn't scored in a derby in years. Shola in general has hardly scored in years. His record against them is what I would expect of any decent striker who's played that many matches against one team, and he only gets so much acclaim for it because he's scored so few against the rest of the league in his career. I'm bored of this urban legend about him.

And the fact he hasn't started the past 2, and was taken off early in the one previous supports the fact he isn't good enough. I just get annoyed with Pardew or others wheeling out the praise for Shola based on performances from years past in the hopes of building up his confidence and producing a performance exceeding his ability.

He doesn't really have a choice what with injuries, suspensions and Cabaye being sold. The only options are MYM and De Jong, and it's pretty easy to predict what Pardew will do. Personally for the derby I'd play the same, Ameobi and Taylor get the derby and it would be too much of a baptism of fire for De Jong.TJR wrote:Jaiston wrote:Sources say team will be:

If we actually beat them and Shola scores it'll be hilarious. What sources are these? Not that it matters like, knowing Pardew that probably will e what he puts out.
I'd put De jong in, even if he isn't match fit compared to Shola he probably is. Not sure if I'd drop Sammy and go 4-4-2 or Shola and keep the same formation. Don't get me wrong I love Shola but Shola can't play in a lone striker role, as a target man in a 4-4-2 yes but as a lone strike its a cause for concern.AbsolutelyGlorious wrote:He doesn't really have a choice what with injuries, suspensions and Cabaye being sold. But in a 4-4-2, the other striker will be closer to him, in theory, to pick up on the knockdowns.AbsolutelyGlorious wrote:His role would be exactly the same in a 4-4-2 and a 4-5-1.
