Knowing us we would be the first team to beat Jose at the bridge which would be amazing(massive optimist
We were dreadful yesterday, but I do not begrudge anyone for betting against the Toon, I for one put tenner on Remy anytime against Aresnal and for us to win, I obviously did not win but I would not care if someone put Gunners to win to soften the blow of losing.

Re: Newcastle Utd 0 - 3 Sunderland - 01/02/14
I only ever bet against us in order to soften the blow. I always hate it when we lose but if the players are still getting paid then why shouldn't I be able to get something out of it in some way? Would I rather lose a tenner or see us win/get a result each week? The latter every time. Why people see betting against your team as taboo I just don't know, as I said I'd rather see Newcastle win than win my bet.
For what it's worth, I had a tenner on Sunderland to win yesterday which paid for my much needed drinks this weekend. I also had £100 on us to get relegated last year but I was ecstatic when we beat QPR to guarantee safety. I'd do it again if we ever found ourselves in a similar situation.

As far as rivals go, we've got it quite easy. Being a Man Utd/City, Everton or a Rangers fan must be bloody awful.

We don't dominate this rivalry like we used to and that's what people are having problems coming to terms with.biggeordiedave wrote:As far as rivals go, we've got it quite easy. Being a Man Utd/City, Everton or a Rangers fan must be bloody awful.
It's far worse for Man Utd fans; give Man City 30 years with the money they've got and they'll probably elapse all of Man Utd's achievements of the last 25 years.

I agree. This latest defeat doesn't hurt nearly as much as the previous two. I actually expected it, though not quite as bad as it was. Sold ticket = £80
£20 on mackems win = £100
£2 on mackems -2 = £70
Profitable day, I knew what was coming. No amount of money can make it better, but at least I had a few quid to go on the beer with.

I couldn't give a f*** about what anyone thinks about how I gamble to be honest.Gallopski wrote:My sentiments exactly.Holystone... wrote:To all those lads who bet against us, hope you enjoyed collecting your winnings.
I've followed this thread without contributing so far, but I have to say I am utterly shocked by people who seem to think it is ok to bet against your own team! And on Sunderland of all people!![]()
There is such a thing as loyalty. There is also such a thing as not being a total ar*e!
If those people who genuinely think it is ok to place a bet against your own team and on their greatest rivals are so sure it is not a problem, then might I suggest that next time they annouce what they have done in a pub full of Newcastle fans prior to the match! (The Strawberry would be a good one to try!) And see how many agree with you!
To assist your counting, here's a tip. The ones who agree with you will be the ones not chasing you down the street trying to get their hands on your throat!![]()
Why do you care so much too? It has NOTHING to do with you and doesn't affect you whatsoever.
As people have said, betting like that has no bearing on the results and no bearing on anything. It's all some meaningless principle thing. If you want to use that principle thing to avoid making 30 quid even when it doesn't mean anything then go ahead.
I wish we won, but at least I had some extra cash to drown my sorrows.

Not to mention, with the luck many have gambling, it would just confirm a defeat if one were to bet on Newcastle. I didn't even manage to get a bet on Sunderland yesterday cos I woke up too late. I'm certain if I had put a bet on we'd have won 3-0
