They spent a lot, 44 mill in 2012-13. The transfer market has huge inefficiencies (as we've shown), spunking 70mil and completely changing the squad doesn't guarantee survival. I'm glad we are doing something but it's a big big gamble.

I get where you're coming from but would you rather not spend anything and hope our current squad magically comes good?

Obviously not but I'd rather we were careful, we don't need to completely change everything we just need a few clever additions who we can integrate into the squad. We are in the s*** but not as deeply as Villa or the Mackems, I don't think we need all or nothing gambles.

Apparently Stoke have put in a higher offer for Berahino, hope we don't get dragged into a bidding war, this is exactly what WBA want.

£21M .. £25M .. doesn't make a huge difference with these sums, the fact still remains .. WBA would sell to anyone else except us (or any other bottom 5-6 clubs) for strategic reasons rather than the amount of money bid for him ..
