Mitrovic is a great player, just needs more support.

I can see us having two formations :

1. Traditional 4-2-3-1

--------------Rémy-------
Ayoze--------Gini---------Sissoko
-----Colback------Shelvey-----
Dumett-Colo-Mbemba-Janmaat
--------------Eliott-------------

2. 4-4-2

------Mitrovic-----Berahino
Wijnaldum---------------Sissoko
---------Colback-Shelvey-------
Willems-Colo-Mbemba-Janmaat
----------------Eliott---------------

This one is awesome.

Well another game of not finishing chances. It's becoming out motto. We desperately need a goal scorer to take the burden of Mitro.

Great is a strong word. He's decent, good strength and hold up play but he can't finish and is painfully slow.

I do still believe he'll come good in time as the raw tools are there for him to be a success but right now we need someone clinical. No striker in this window, no hope.

Disappointing loss, we just didn't turn up. A win yesterday to add our recent results would have had things looking very rosy so I'm not wetting the bed just yet. Really need a striker though, putting way too much on Mitrovic to lead the line right now.

Actually if we had a defence we'd have won 1 0

People do seem to be forgetting that their first goal was offside. We were unlucky not to come away with a point.

Alan / Schteeeve is that you?
Seriously though I do agree but we seem to be finding excuses more and more. Im sick of playing half decent and still losing but it is promising that we are performing reasonably well. We need to start burying our chances pretty soon or we will run out of games.

Haidara has played most of those games without.

What I'm trying to say more so is we miss having a decent left back, the Dummett hate at times is unwarranted but we would be a much better team if we had a more competent left full back. I think the team would have much more balance as we wouldn't feel the need to send everything down the right hand side. Dummett scares me when he's on the ball sometimes, it's as if he nevers wants to be passed it and when he gets it he looks terrified. He reminds me of me playing football.

All well and good but at the end of the season the FA won't say 'It's ok Newcastle, you can stay up as you had some decisions go against you and you played well at times'. We need to start winning games rather than looking back at what could have been.

Agreed we'd be more balanced going forward with an attacking LB. But then we'd probably concede a lot more as we'd lose our best header of the ball and a solid defender.

Drop Colo and have Mbemba and Dummett as our CBs when we go down <diva>

Stop using our strikers as scapegoats.
Basically the same thing I've said to you in another thread about Dummett. Him and Mitrovic are scapegoats for 10 of our players being incredibly inconsistent.

As a striker myself, I think Gini has had missed more clear chances than Mitro recently. Mitro had a chance today but it was well saved. Gini had a chance, wasn't a great chance but it was more than a half chance and he just stabbed at it.
We bought Mitrovic to score goals, he's a striker. Gini is not.

The point is we should never have been going into the season so light up the top of the pitch. Mitrovic is not doing enough its as simple as that. I've seen him miss clear cut chances all season. It's not being negative its just pointing out the obvious. I'd love to say that he's doing his job and scoring goals but that just isn't the case. He should have double the tally he has now and that has nothing to do with the rest of the team, it's simply down to his poor finishing. You can dress it up whichever way you want, the fact remains the same, he's not been good enough. There's been many games this year where we've played well but just not put the ball in the net.
