There really is no way of knowing transfer amounts for anything done in the last 5-8 years is there? It's simply never disclosed officially and alway based on "sources"
Then you add in the add-on's, sell on clauses, performance bonuses, agent fees, and whatever else.
Basically, they don't want to the average fan to know they're getting fleeced whilst the players/chairmen laugh their way to the Galapagos or the Maldives (or Tenerife/Mikonos, if they're British)

Copied and pasted from an article slating Hughes' signings so no idea!Amnesiac wrote:Is that price for Tevez true? Thought they denied it was that much at the time.

There are some shockers in there, but then again Kompany, Zabaleta, De Jong, Barry - all of whom featured greatly in City winning the PL - for £43m is a bargain in hindsight.biggeordiedave wrote:Mark Hughes is trying to make amends for his Manchester City days, when given a budget of nearly £300m managed to buy this lot. Some horrific signings among them.
Vincent Kompany - £7m
Pablo Zabaleta - £6m
Wayne Bridge - £12m (left on a free after contract expiry)

Those Man City transfers were before FFP, and they had essentially unlimited money to start a new team, so I don't think they gave a f*** about getting the prices down, just paying the amount they needed to get the players ASAP

Just had a look at Bellamy's stats for us.
I was convinced he scored more goals than 28 in almost 100 apps.
I think my memories of him for when he was on form is clouding my judgement.

I've two memories of Bellamy.
1. Undermining SBR resulting in Shepherd bringing Souness in. Put us back years.
2. That TV interview when we 'bid' for Rooney and he said if we did sign him, he'd be off to another club.

Yeah, it's not a bad position to be in. If anything it shows how inflated the market has become.Pretty Terrible Attacking Options wrote:Those Man City transfers were before FFP, and they had essentially unlimited money to start a new team, so I don't think they gave a **** about getting the prices down, just paying the amount they needed to get the players ASAP

Not be long until Charlie is off now ..QPR have signed German striker Sebastian Polter from Mainz for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old arrives on a three-year deal having scored 14 goals in 29 appearances on loan at FC Berlin last term.
"It's my dream to play in England, so I couldn't be happier, he told the club's website. "To play for Queens Park Rangers, at this stage of my career, is really good for me and something I am very excited about."

Very odd. Either joins Torres etc of duff expensive strikers or comes good after 4 goals last season. Wouldn't bet on outcome.
