Re: Holidays
Anyone been to Strasbourg? Flights only £32 return in August. Shame to miss out at that price. The city looks canny from the pictures I've seen of it.
I fancy taking Mrs Sombrero for a stroll down Bournville Boulevard.

I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?

The area is fairly unique in terms of culinary terms as its been part of multiple nations several times in recent history. It a also a uni city so has decent bars and night life.

Re: Holidays
Hey somebody's pinched my sombrero.
It's a city with a lot of history, as mentioned above, it is a great mix of great french and german culture. I'm assuming you aren't looking for beach tourism here
) The cathedral really is impressive in real life, especially if you come up the small pedestrian street facing the entrance (I forget the name) but it really does stun you as it just appears out of nowhere when you turn the corner, it's very impressive.
The medieval bridges and the surrounding distinct architecture in the old town surrounding is very cool as well. At the end of the day it's a large city but it has plenty to do, and I'm not sure if you're looking at renting a car or not but just south a bit or even east into Germany are quality drives if you have time to just kind of get lost and explore the hills/mountains/forest, it's great stuff.
It's a cool city, and again, are you looking at getting a vehicle and potentially venturing out bit because just south of there in Alsace there are beautiful villages with some amazing picturesque drives!
Basically i'm just happy you're exploring the area as those are my old stomping grounds.

I've been and its a tourist hell.Ramone wrote:Has anyone been to Oktoberfest in Munich? Is it any good?
You need to pre-book slots in the beer tents, take ages to get served and after a while you'll want to bludgeon the Oompah band to death with your stien.

Yeah it's a complete tourist trap.
Re: Holidays
Hmmm, I've been looking at an all inclusive deal for £190 but I'm not really that keen, unfortunately I can't convince the guys I'm going with that it's going to be s***.

Off to Croatia this Summer, be interesting going back, was in Dubrovnik in 1992 but it was being shelled.
And in conclusion, how far had you got through reading this before you realised it was my signature?

Re: Holidays
For £190 I'd take the flight to Munich and then take a train to Landsberg am Lech and follow the Romantic Road south towards Fussen. Great scenery and towns on the way and each town will have thier own bierkellers.Ramone wrote:Hmmm, I've been looking at an all inclusive deal for £190 but I'm not really that keen, unfortunately I can't convince the guys I'm going with that it's going to be s***.

Beautiful country. I'm staying on one of the islands not far from Dubrovnik (Island of Korcula) but I've arranged a 3 or 4 trips to mainland.biggeordiedave wrote:Heading to Dubrovnik myself at the end of July for a mate's wedding. Re: Holidays
Just back from Magaluf. It's absolutely s**** and nobody should go there. BCM is overrated, booze cruises are absolute w***, club reps are annoying and the bars are all the same. Also I got absolutely s*** faced every day and not feel awful.
I dunno
