On the plus side, i think he'd bring in his own coaching team, which can only be a good thingSpeedo wrote:Left-field choice for sure, but left-field in a Paul Clement way, rather than in a Joe Kinnear way. I think it'd be a risky but interesting choice.

Viera as a HC, with Carver, Stone and Woodman... happy days...?
Charnley obviously think the U21 league is at the same level as PL.

Interesting point on Twitter: The Vieira to Newcastle link came from a Sky Sports North East correspondent, i.e. from the club. That could be legit or it could be a power play with McClaren. We tend to keep our cards close to our chest...

If Vieira brings his own coaching staff I wholeheartedly agree with the placement.
The man has more balls than Pardew and Carver combined.

I agree. With new coaching staff I can accept him. But for HC whithout experience at the top level and with Carver, Stone and Woodman...LONDONTOON wrote:If Vieira brings his own coaching staff I wholeheartedly agree with the placement.

It's true that it is good to have a lot of balls for training sessions and the like, but I don't think it is an important category in deciding which manager to hire. I mean we can just buy some more balls from Sports Direct for a few quid. Probably get a staff discount as well.LONDONTOON wrote:If Vieira brings his own coaching staff I wholeheartedly agree with the placement.

As left field as it is, he's surely a country mile better than Carver.
Re: Who should replace Cardew as Newcastle Utd head coach?
I'm sceptical but f*** it, I'd probably take him.
I think my lack of caring about the club is still spilling over from last season, so I don't mind us hoying viera in and seeing what happens. Would be interesting at least.

Why can't they just appoint a proper f***ing manager for f***s sake. What is so hard about it?

I'd take Vieira over Carver or McClaren though, provided he had different coaches.

Vieira seriously?
What is the matter with this club that it would even consider such a s*** appointment. The guy has next to no coaching experience and zero managerial. Even Carver looks over qualified compared to him.
Being a great footballer means f*** all when it comes to management. Our squad is paper thin and stayed up by the skin of its teeth and thought is being given to experimenting with an untried manager. Better not be true.

He could be one of several candidates being interviewed. Viera could just be the one that sky has heard about
Re: Vieira set for talks over Newcastle head coach position
Would be a bizarre appointment and a big gamble if it did happen, but I'd give him a fair chance. I'd certainly be more excited with Vieira being appointed than McClaren.
Also, he was on the cover of FIFA 2005
