NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 14/15)
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 14/15)
The only time MYM has been given a run at centre back this season is when we kept a few clean sheets in succession against Chelsea and Spurs when he was outstanding. He should be first choice next season!

I'm more impressed that people can judge Haidara on 11 starts for the clubHeisen wrote:How can anyone possibly judge MYM when he hasn't had an extended run at CB, and the one run he did have there coincided with our best run of the season? He's been played at full back more than CB and has suffered for it.

His goalline clearance v Spurs at WHL was incredible!Jonas wrote:The only time MYM has been given a run at centre back this season is when we kept a few clean sheets in succession against Chelsea and Spurs when he was outstanding. He should be first choice next season!

For me Haidara still has a lot to learn defensively. He's great at getting forward (sometimes) but he's still very much a work in progress.

I've just read Alex Ferguson's book, and I realise it's not gospel, but he mentions how they scout players for years and have multiple people doing it to try and gauge a players ability and potential. Seems a waste considering our fans can write Dummett off after 10 starts and have Haidara as the next Roberto Carlos after 11 starts.Heisen wrote:ALF wrote:

If we had a good manager the squad would be good enough to, at the very least, challenge for the top 6.Minty Fresh wrote:He's right that it's nowhere near top 6 worthy though.

I think even with a decent manager we'd struggle to break the top 7 without significant investment.MultipleJesuses wrote:If we had a good manager the squad would be good enough to, at the very least, challenge for the top 6.Minty Fresh wrote:He's right that it's nowhere near top 6 worthy though.

Even if we'd been average in 2014 we'd be up with the top 7 now. Pardew couldn't even manage a Sunday League side.Minty Fresh wrote:I think even with a decent manager we'd struggle to break the top 7 without significant investment.MultipleJesuses wrote:

Corriere dello Sport reports tonight that Premier League-side Newcastle United has caught interest for Inter’s midfielder from Nigeria, Joel Obi, currently on loan at Parma. Obi, raise at the Inter Academy has since his debut for the first team had a lot of problems with injuries and could now leave Italy to play in England.

Is he a defensive midfielder? You can never have too many of them!Ramone wrote:And he's a central midfielder

Welbeck is after a move in the summer, I have no idea why. Can't see any top club being interested in him.

About 4 months ago I'd have said to get as far from signing him as possible but he's still a step up from Shola and LDJ, who I'm convinced will be our only two permanent strikers come the first match day.Heisen wrote:Welbeck is after a move in the summer, I have no idea why. I can see Welbeck ending up at somewhere like Everton. Given regular runs of games he's alright for that level club.
