Balancing the books
Making sure we aren't Portsmouth
Securing mediocre sponsorship deal

Need some help here as I've ran out of "good things".

You talk about balancing the books as if it is a small thing? Ashley has pumped about £160m in to the club since he has arrived that he didn't realise he would have to. Yes he should have done his due diligence before buying in the club, but to invest that much cash for a club you don't support is a big thing to do. Interest free as well, he can't make money from it, the only risk is losing money. When people say Ashley pockets cash from transfers, TV sponsorship etc. he is really taking back what he is owed.

I'm not thrilled about his reign either, but he's doing what I would probably do in his situation.

The debt was £75m when he took over, it only went up so much because we got relegated, which is his fault for changing manager six times in his first two years and signing a load of s*** like Smith, Viduka and Xisco on high wages.

Based on the figures from the summer of 2012, we owe Mike Ashley 267 million quid according to Deloitte. Even if he was trying to take back the money we owe him bit by bit. it would take more than a decade probably. So its pretty safe to safe Ashley is here for the long term given the fact we don't seem to interest any rich arab billionaire's out there. We really need to start getting used to this 'transfer policy' because its going to be the way we do it for years to come unfortunately.

Doesn't that include the money that he used to buy the club?

Agree. I'm not going to warm to the Spurs loving, disinterested, communications nightmare that is Ashley though any time soon. I'm just puzzled why he bought us. It certainly wasn't out of charity.

I actually don't mind "The True Geordie", even though it's kind of a stupid name. His videos are entertaining to watch and he makes some interesting points, even if he has got a bit big in thinking he's some kind of Youtube/Twitter celebrity.
