Non-serious answer: If that story is true skalps is bracing himself for a new record number of users online followed by a new record number of users offline.

Serious answer: If that story is true then I would argue that we have, as I have argued previously, been played like a xylophone by Lille, seeing as it was well-known they wanted to extract a larger fee for Debuchy following the Euros and were using us to help drive up his price. "Why didn't we get a deal done before the Euros??" Because Lille didn't want a deal to be done before the Euros. "Why didn't we get a deal done earlier in the window??" Because Lille didn't want a deal to be done without having had a bidding auction first. They held every single card in this equation. They probably knew full well about Real's interest when we were negotiating with them. These are the things that must be considered before we look for scapegoats for not signing a right-back which isn't even our priority position.

I can understand Lille wanting to f*** us over....we clearly gave someone that represents Cabaye a bung to find out his release fee last summer.
