The Mathieu Debuchy Thread

Post by Smudger »

Graeme Bailey ‏@SkyGraemeBailey
Lille boss Rudi Garcia says Newcastle must have the 'wrong player' such is the derisory nature of their £4m bid. At least another £2m needed

Confirmed by the Lille boss. Giving this and de Jong their own threads as I have a feeling they will go on for some time, and are big enough stories to be separate from the Carvery.

I know it's It's Ashley and he won't be held to ransom, but an extra 2m doesn't seem like a massive over valuation <scratch>

Hope we can get this done.

Was just about to post this. What a bunch of hopeless incompetents. Couple of local journos have had their articles copied and pasted by the Mail as well.

There's no way in hell it's a take it or leave it offer, we're just going in low to see what their valuation is, and show them we dont have a massive budget/wont be held to ransom.

Yeah £6m would still be a great price. That one signing would completely transform our defence, having Debuchy instead of Simpson could've been the difference between 5th and 3rd last season. Sign him up Slim Mike. <ok>

Especially when you think Chelsea paid around 18m for Bosingwa, 6m is still a bargain.

It'll be interesting to see how Inter or other clubs respond now that the fact we've bid has been confirmed.

I expect our 4m bid was just to pin the final fee down, if we had gone straight in at 6m then no doubt Lille would reject it and ask for 8m.

Really really hope we get Debuchy, I want him so much. <wah>

Could be a clever move. If Inter and Real Madrid and whoever else he's been linked with don't make a move now we'll know we're not wasting our time looking at him. If we do trigger a bid from one of them at least it's happened early in the window so we can move on to other targets.

Hmmmmmm I am feeling negative about this now! I hope we find the extra 2 million required otherwise I will be disappointed.

Bidding low works sometimes. How would you all feel if we went straight in with 7 or 8 million for Cabaye and Tiote at the time? For all we knew he had a release clause or Lille's valuation was lower than expected. If they only want 6 I'm sure we'll go that high.

Strange wording if we're only 2m off really. Being two thirds of the way there is hardly 'derisory'.
