4 FEBRUARY 2018

THE PREMIER LEAGUE

16:30 Liverpool 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur Sky

5 FEBRUARY 2018

20:00 Watford 4-1 Chelsea Sky <yikes>

Well, after the midweek shakedown there is still only an 8 point gap between AFC Bournemouth in 10th position and Alan Pardews' West Bromwich Albion who have now sunk to the bottom of the pile.

With The Magpies not in action until Sunday in their relegation six-pointer with Crystal Palace the Toon Army can have a relaxing ( <whistle> ) Saturday afternoon watching how the battle to avoid the drop develops. In the lunchtime game another victory for Manchester City will see them have one hand if not both hands on The Premiership trophy and on Wednesday evenings' evidence I do not see Burnley pulling off a shock but, hey, what do I know! In the first of 3 big relegation clashes AFC Bournemouth, buoyed by their magnificent victory over Chelsea, will be looking to pick up another valuable 3 points against Stoke City who, themselves, played out a lacklustre goalless stalemate with Watford in midweek. Brighton & Hove Albion take on West Ham United whilst at The Hawthorns two of the bottom three face up to each other and the hosts, now 4 points from safety, will be hoping to get back to winning ways against a Southampton side now winless in 12 league games. Swansea City still in the bottom 3 despite successive home victories over Liverpool and Arsenal will be hoping to make it three wins in a row when they visit the King Power Stadium and Huddersfield Town will not be relishing a trip to Old Trafford after their thrashing by Liverpool and will be looking to end a run of 4 successive league defeats. In the final game of the day Theo Walcott could get a rare start at The Emirates where Everton are the visitors.

As previously mentioned Sunday sees The Toon looking for their third "double" of the season at Selhurst Park and in the other game Liverpool entertain Tottenham Hotspur with both sides looking to capitalise on recent slip ups by Manchester United and Chelsea in their quest for Champions League places. Finally Monday evening sees a faltering Chelsea travel the short distance to Vicarage Road and will be looking to put that defeat at the hands of Bournemouth behind them and a lot of teams would be pleased to see The Blues return to winning ways.

In The Championship Mick McMackem returns to the Stadium Of s**** with his Ipswich side looking to push for a place in the play-offs and heap further misery on our chums down the road whilst at Craven Cottage there is the possibility of Aleksander Mitrovic lining up against the ginger Pirlo and I'm sure Toon fans will take more than a passing interest in both of these games.

As always thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend.

I don't think Bournemouth will go down so hopefully they turn Stoke over.

Love the hypocrisy of people like Wenger saying that the financial power of top clubs is ruining the game. He's only bitter because it's not arsenal at the top of the tree. A lot of their success in the past was down to money. They'd make big signings (relative to the time) and paid massive wages - Sol Campbell being the first £100k a week footballer. Money has always controlled the top of the Premier League, the only exception being when Leicester won it. Arsenal had their turn, Man U there's, Chelsea and now Man C.

100%. Teams have dominated in the past and will again. Football has always been about money and there has always been a big gulf between certain teams.

Even the mackems were once known as the Bank of England club due to the transfer fees they paid in the late 1940s/early1950s and look how that ended!

Lower end Championship/upper league one is about the right level for him.

He's like a man possessed out there at the minute. An on form Sammy could cause any team problems, obviously the reason he's at that level is because he's not on form that often but he's got everything needed.
