The Charlie Austin Thread

Post by TJR »

Newcastles media partner, Mirror, are reporting that the deal for Charlie Austin is done.

[tweet][/tweet]

Mirror are supposedly the most reliable source along with Sky Sports for NUFC news these days. With the club naming them as the two media partners. They both got exclusives with McClaren when the deal was first done and the rest of the media didn't even get a press conference with McClaren.

Perez is better than Berahino, would be a stupid signing.

It would be good to actually have options for once though. Having competition for places and strength in depth is a good thing.

Let's face it, they'll all end up injured anyway.

Always rated Berahino. Know he's good mates with Sammy so that could also come into play.

2 hours ago, Sky said there have been no bids, the Mirror says it's a done deal... one media partner is wrong! My guess is personal terms are done and they're now going to do the deal with QPR. Hopefully tied up by the end of the week? But maybe that's wishful thinking.

already friction in our little media love triangle, wonder which one of our partners have been entrusted with the truth?

Shearer was good mates with loads of players. Didn't mean that one of them signed for Newcastle.

I'd be happy with Austin.
It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

Not really, Berahino is a similar player to Perez and if he came here it would be for first team football. We definitely need strength in depth and competition for places, but I'd prefer it if we steered clear of Berahino, he looks disruptive and not worth the hassle.

I really rate Perez but look at the amount of goals Berahino has scored for a bang average West Brom side. He would be a great signing if we could get him at a reasonable price.
