Aleksandar Dragović

Post by beatski »

The ever reliable talksport has linked us with him, in fact we're in "pole position" to land him apparently
Newcastle are leading the chase to sign FC Basel defender Aleksandar Dragovic.
Alan Pardew is keen to sign another central defender when the transfer window re-opens and reports in Swiss newspaper Blick claim he is lining up a £5million offer for the 21-year-old.
Dragovic has also attracted interest from Fiorentina and Stuttgart but he would be tempted by a lucrative move into the Premier League.
The Austrian international has a contract with Basel until June 2015 and the Swiss club will not allow him to leave him unless a sizeable offer is made.
here's some wiki stuff on him:
Dragović attracted serious public criticism when he slapped the Swiss Bundesrat (Swiss Federal Council) Ueli Maurer several times on his head during the celebrations subsequent to the Cup Final in Mai 2012.[2] After he made further condescending comments stating that he was very reluctant to apologize and said that "on the inside everybody knows, so I believe, that it was very, very much fun doing it", he had to travel to the Bundeshaus in Berne and apologize personally to Ueli Maurer
<laugh>
He also pushed over a Molde FK player, and when the Molde player responded by tapping him on the neck, Dragović fell down and rolled around on the floor play-acting, which subsequently resulted in the Molde player receiving a red card when he should have a penalty instead.
<wenger>

anyone have any first hand knowledge on this this guy?

Never heard of him, but he sounds a "character".
And in conclusion, how far had you got through reading this before you realised it was my signature?

That first story is hillarious <laugh>
The second....not so much <wenger>
Like a seahorse in the night, he rides with haste to his beloved's domain.

He is the silent guardian, the practical idealist, the man of peace prepared for war.

He is a Mackem.

I swear this is a bread and butter statement of modern football journalism:
