I work (non-academic thank f***) for a Uni but I'll be in work on Thursday. I don't see what the Unions hope to achieve. The pay offer is done and dusted as far as the Uni is concerned. 1% is s*** due to rises in the cost of living, but at a time where the council near me announced 1000 job losses I think I've got it okay personally.
As for lectures, I'm sure you'll get by without them
Of course I'll get by, but for that module in particular we'll have missed out on at least a fifth of the scheduled lectures we've paid for and for some reason that pisses me off.

Aren't they supposed to reschedule the lectures? That's what happened to us last time.

Probably depends on the Uni, we never but then that's Sunderland for you.

Reschedule lectures? My Uni (Sheffield) is so disorganised they don't even release the exam timetable until April.

Give it a few years and there won't even be lectures. It'll all be technology enhanced learning etc.
There's no need for 20/30/40/50 students to sit in a lecture theatre listening to someone speak.

Hot drinks are horrific but I understand the practical need for coffee for some people. However, people who drink hot fruit juice are basically Hitler.

Fruit teas are evil. They deceive you by being bright and smelling like whatever they're meant to be, but they taste of hot water with the faintest tinge of whatever flavour they supposedly are.
