A manager from the 9th level of english football is nowhere near ready to manage a premier league club yet.
I think it was a joke.

I'm not even sure to be honest.

Would anyone take Sherwood as manager if he was hypothetically available?
I have to say that I had my doubts about him but now I'm getting more impressed. He has the same win percentage as Pochettino does at Spurs and looked to have kept Villa up with a surprising up-turn in form.

I don't think you can pick anyone from the 'had good half seasons at other clubs' crew without it being a gamble, Sherwood's done nothing for me to show he's better than Pardew.

I suppose the question I'm trying to ask is what people's views would be if we did hypothetically hire him. Hate it? Don't mind? Like it?

I'd rather wait and see how he does at a one club over a period of a few years. He had half a season at most at Spurs which isn't enough time to properly judge him and he's had even less time at Villa. If he keeps Villa up he should get another season there and that will be the one to judge him on, when he's a manager of a club from the start to the end of a full season. We'll see more of his ideas, tactics, signings etc rather than just putting his spin on the tactical set up and players he's inherited.

If we went five months managerless to appoint Sherwood I'd be less than impressed.

..
Next up you'll be advocating Pards return as he's hit some form.

It was a joke, but Carver doesn't look that more capable of a manager than a ninth tier one. And with two Ashes wins Harmison has more experience of being in a winning team than Newcastle at present.

Since when is a question advocating something? All I said was that I'm more impressed with Sherwood lately and asked people what their opinions would be if we did appoint him.
Read it properly.

Surprised at how well he's doing. nice to see a young English manager doing well. Still think he's a t** though.

Did Sherwod say that he wouldn't come here or am I making that up?

He said that a good few weeks into the "search", when it was presumed that he'd already been rejected or not considered.

I'm surprised as well. It's one thing to do half a good season somewhere, but the real test is moving to a different club and doing well there. So far at least, he's managed to do that.

Maybe the answer is to give newbies 6 month contracts. Best of all worlds then .

I've always thought Sherwood was decent, even prior to Villas performances.
He certainly is considerable better than Carver is and that is without question. I would have him here, probably him over McClaren
