Ashley: I Want To Bring Success Back To United
Re: Ashley: I Want To Bring Success Back To United
So some of our fans believe everything they've heard Mike Ashley say..

Let the Sky millions roar the team home. Let the bulging cash account suck a goal into the Gallowgate net when it’s most needed.
I’m out; let them sink or swim without me, for the near future at least.

We're just not tin foil hat conspiracy theorists like you who choose to believe the polar opposite of everything just because you think it makes you more intelligent or more aware.Star-Lord Mehdi wrote:So some of our fans believe everything they've heard Mike Ashley say..
The extent you're going to to find flaws or points to criticise in everything Ashley says or does is laughable. He didn't have to do the interview and he didn't have to say a damn thing. None of us ever expected it, and if it never happened, we would have never even thought about it. Just be grateful that he finally has actually said something.
If you don't believe it, that's your problem. I personally can't say whether I do believe him or don't because I, like you, don't really know anything for sure. He's said what he's said, so now we just need to wait and see if he's true to his word.

Obviously not everything he says but just once, finally, it'd be nice to be optimistic about something. We've stayed in the league and now is yet another chance to rebuild but this time he's actually given a public show of backing and something which he'll have to follow up on now that he's put himself in the public eye.Star-Lord Mehdi wrote:So some of our fans believe everything they've heard Mike Ashley say..
I really don't understand the mentality of s***ting all over anybody who has any hope for this club.

Well if he's never been proven to go back on his word because he's never said anything before then why shouldn't we believe him?L8RS wrote:If this is the only time we've heard him speak.. and you believe him..CryMeARiviere wrote:

Seems like hatred for Ashley is more important than love for the club in some cases.TSI wrote:Me either it's almost like they are disappointed we stayed up.CryMeARiviere wrote:

It's only you who seems to be claiming that you don't believe him even though you really have no idea whether what he says is true or not. It doesn't mean that you have to believe him if you choose to keep an open mind, give him the benefit of the doubt and then wait and see if what he says is actually true or not.
He's said what he's said, so now we'll see if he sticks to his word. It's as simple as that.

I dont like him but to be honest, Ashley could backflip s*** out a Messi and Ronaldo and some of our fans would find fault with his execution of the maneuver and b**** about it for weeks.

Re: Ashley: I Want To Bring Success Back To United
I just think there's absolutely no point in judging him until we see how he acts in the transfer window. I understand why people have deep rooted issues with him but he came across as genuine in that interview and if he follows it up, we get a decent manager/coaching staff, an influx of intelligent signings and actually show some ambition then sweet, he'll begin to win me over. If he appoints someone like McClaren, oversees dodgy, cheap signings and we do the usual "let's aim for 10th" then he'll just continue to be the cronut I've always viewed him as. But I'm not about to judge him now. Actions speak louder than words.

He came across well, if it was rehearsed he's a fantastic actor as he manager to sound nervous and uncomfortable. Massive summer ahead.

Re: Ashley: I Want To Bring Success Back To United
At the risk of repeating myself (I definitely am), statement or no statement we spent last summer. December gone the club went through our biggest change in five years and rightly or wrongly (I can't blame them for not predicting quite how inept Carver could be, I certainly didn't) they didn't rush a new manager in in January. This summer we'll have a new manager and I'd be very very surprised if he wasn't backed at very least to the extent we were last year, and more than likely more. Add that to the fact a competent manager could get more out of the likes of Riviere, Cabella etc by actually coaching them, show a bit of faith in the likes of Anita, and actually get De Jong on the field.
I see no reason to be anything other than optimistic, outside of the very slim chance that Charnley is a complete moron and gives Carver the job.

Re: Ashley: I Want To Bring Success Back To United
Steven Taylor is probably getting sold in the summer after this.
Steven Taylor has demanded Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley to start spending after securing their Premier League safety of the last day of the season.
Defiant Ashley revealed before the 2-0 win over West Ham that he would not be leaving Newcastle United at least until the club won a trophy or finished in the top four of the league.
But he said that now the club is in a strong financial position, he wants to get "the horse and carriage pulling in the same direction" - insisting that he would release the finances for signatures this summer.
And Newcastle defender Taylor, who missed the second half of the season with an Achilles injury, has demanded that the controversial club chief stays true to his word.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Everybody knows we need to add some top quality players. It’s great for Mike Ashley to come out before the game yesterday and say what he said, but I do believe, and I think a lot of the lads will say the same, he should invest big in the club in the summer.
“A lot of people have been saying we should be in Europe and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be. The top six, top seven is what we’ve got to be aiming for. And there’s no reason why we can’t.”
Ultimately, the season has been a failure for Newcastle, requiring their first win in 11 games to keep them in the Premier League on the final day.
But Taylor insisted that every player who has come into the club has understood that Newcastle is a football city and have given their all for the club and the fans.
Despite survival, Newcastle fans still protested against Ashley
He said: “You’re constantly getting reminded of it [the situation] every day when we come in. The media speculation all the time is negative, negative, negative.
“The foreign lads who have come in this season or last season, I think they’ve understood what it’s all about. This a footballing city and, wherever you go, you’re always going to get reminded of it so when results don’t go well, yes, you can point the finger at yourself, the staff, the owner, that’s normal. If you can’t handle it, you should go and collect stamps.”

Back to the article though, he's spot on with what he's saying. Its nice to see the players putting pressure on the owner and the club to deliver.

He's not said anything controversial though, standard **** spinning using words like 'demanding' when he's said nothing of the sort.
