Your thoughts on the Pardew-Meyler incident?
Re: Your thoughts on the Pardew-Meyler incident?
Pardew shamed himself and the club, has no idea how to act with dignity. Yet again, not his first...or 2nd incident.

Pardew reaction
"I had very passionate managers like Martin O'Neill and Mark Hughes while I was a player but nothing like this. From now to the end of the season he should get a complete ban from the home and away games. Although with Newcastle out of all cup competitions and probably safe in the league, is that really even punishment?"

Re: Your thoughts on the Pardew-Meyler incident?
All this does is act as a catalyst for those who want Pardew gone anyway - I don't think most on here genuinely want him sacked solely because of this, but it certainly provides an easy justification for calling for his head. I am completely apathetic to the whole situation regarding his management of the club at the moment. I don't like him but I don't hate him (as a manager - as a bloke he seems like a total f*** nugget). He's done a decent job for us overall considering some of the absurd events at the club during his tenure, but whilst he is there and whilst Ashley is at the helm I feel a horrible sense of distance being created between myself and the club I have supported my whole life.
Regarding the incident itself: was it stupid? Absolutely. Was it embarrassing and completely out of order? Yes. Do I think he should be sacked solely because of it? No.
I sometimes feel like I'm becoming a joke by proxy of the things that happen at our club, and that's a s*** feeling.

"The (Newcastle) owners are looking at a guy with a massive contract and if they think 'we want him out' and I'm not saying they do, it gives them a reason.
"I personally think his position has become untenable. How can you manage a group of players when you have done that to one of their fellow professionals?"

The media reaction is SO over the top.

I missed this one
Robbie Savage, BBC Radio 5 live
Pardew reaction
"It was absolutely ridiculous from Newcastle boss Alan Pardew. It was a scandalous act from a manager who should know better. Throw the book at him, he shouldn't be allowed in the ground for the last 10 games of the season.
"It's a shocking act, Paul Ince was giving a five-match stadium ban for his behaviour and he should get a 10 game ban for the rest of the season. Newcastle United might see it as gross misconduct - his position might even be untenable now."

Re: Your thoughts on the Pardew-Meyler incident?
Hull boss Steve Bruce sympathised with his Newcastle counterpart because of the "pressure" managers are under, and also praised Meyler for staying on his feet.
Bruce told BBC Radio 5 live: "I'm sure Alan's absolutely regretting it and questioning himself, asking 'how the hell have I done that?'.
"The pressure on all Premier League managers is enormous. It's not like Alan, he's an established Premier League manager.
"I'm delighted with the reaction of David Meyler because other people would've been rolling round the floor. We've all done silly things in the heat of the moment."

Me too, decent manager, likes his players to pass and stay on their feet. Not sure where the hate comes from, he also spent millions on Sunderland and made them crapI want curly fries too wrote:I like Steve Bruce

Re: Your thoughts on the Pardew-Meyler incident?
It's ridiculous overreaction, he was the one shoved first, has a right to defend himself. It's not as if he f***ing hit him with a right hook is it?
I understand that it's "different" because he's a manager, and I completely understand punishment, such as a three game touchline ban or something to that effect.
But to say he should be sacked from his job for it? Convicted of assault or banned for the rest of the season? Ridiculous. This PC health and safety brigade is out of control in England.

Re: Your thoughts on the Pardew-Meyler incident?
I like the media's ability to totally ignore Steve Bruce's comments. They must be cursing his name up and down the land as they thought they would get a nice, juicy manager battle to sell their papers. The BBC match report barely mentions anything else.
Kindly deeds done for free!

Re: Your thoughts on the Pardew-Meyler incident?
Pardew was stupid to do what he did and he knows that. The thing is, he's just gave a certain section of Newcastle fans the perfect opportunity to add fuel to their own fire of hatred for the man and now they can cite this incident as ammo for his sacking, which is sickening.
Meyler instigated it by being a frustrated knob head. N9ow I ask anyione of you. How would you react in that situation? Tensions are high, the adrenalin is flowing and you're stood in your area pushing the players on, then all of a sudden, this big oaf comes and pushes right into you, deliberately. How many are going to tell me that they wouldn't react?
Meyler is man handling a manager and should hve had more respect. Anyone of Pardews age would have taken it as massive disrespect and reacted, maybe some in a way worse way. It's a heat of the moment thing and I'm sure if he could count to 10, he would have just mouthed off at the player.
Pardew will be banned from the touchline for so many games, maybe 4 or 5...or if the press crank it right up, which I'd be surprised if they don't, then Pardew could be banned for the remainder of this season. They better be careful if they do that mind, because once they set this precedent, they better keep to it, but the FA being the FA will do the usual corrupt carry on and cherry pick the incidents.
As for Fans wanting him sacked, I hope Ashley sees it for what it is and tell Pardew to carry on doing what he's doing.
If our manager was Mourhino or someone like that, I can guarantee you that just about all of our fans would have said, good on you Jose.
For all those fans that complain about the passion going out of the game and the game going soft...think about that when this stuff happens in the heat of battle, because the moaning bastards who want Pardews' head for this are the very fans that's ruining the game by acting like right soft fairies. Rant over.

Re: Your thoughts on the Pardew-Meyler incident?
I was at Stoke v Arsenal so not seen or read much. But looking at the video, it was stupid and if he was playing he'd have a red card and a three game ban so that's how the FA should punish him.
But Meyler chucked an arm out at Pardew also.
