Exactly. I think MON might be the problem to be honest. He seems to frightened to go for anyone who isn't English or hasn't played for him at a previous club. Obviously I think our system is fantastic. We have recognised that "proven" British players just aren't worth the transfer fees and wages. We've chucked enough money at that sort of s*** in the past! When Joe Cole signed for Liverpool I was thinking that is exactly the sort of player Fat Freddy would've signedRamone wrote:They got Sessegnon and Gyan (who was hot stuff at the time)biggeordiedave wrote:I genuinely think Sunderland could attract better players than Fletcher and for a bit less money than that.

Now TSI you're being unfair. 12 goals over the course of a season is far, far better than scoring 16 between August and February

True, maybe we should go for him.biggeordiedave wrote:Now TSI you're being unfair. 12 goals over the course of a season is far, far better than scoring 16 between August and February.
He is going up in 2s though so a tenner on him to score 14 this season is a good bet.

What he really needs is a good director of football behind him. However, isn't that why he left Villabiggeordiedave wrote:

But MON just seems scared to take the chance on say a relatively unknown player from the Eredivisie, and would rather opt for someone who has been an average PL player for most of their career. It's madness. As good a manager as he is, he's holding Sunderland back in that respect.

Fletcher is a 1 in 3 striker if you look at goals to games started ratio.
Not worth £15m, but not as bad as some people believe.

I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?

To be fair he's been playing for Wolves so he hasn't exactly been getting amazing service. Why aye Cabaye wrote:Fletcher is a 1 in 3 striker if you look at goals to games started ratio.
