I must be one of the few that is underwhelmed with this news. Everyone knows what we need, and it's not another midfielder. <erm>

Be grateful we're not Spurs, their only strikers are Defoe and Kane!

We have a squad, rotation will be key this year. Everyone will get their minutes.
Yeah of course, I was sort of thinking what Pardew would class as his strongest 11 for the big games.

Not being funny but teams are always evolving and this might mean that we see less of Gutierrez in the league, though he will be someone we can rely on in the Europa League.
I'd have thought Jonas would be far more likely to play in the league rather than being used in Europe, the way he plays is more suited to the English game and he is a key player for us. I'd be extremely surprised if he plays less than 30 league games this season (baring any long term injury or anything).

He can play left back and did tonight. To be honest I'm at the point where I'll accept almost anyone as we need more players.

It wasn't top of my list but think how many games Guthrie played last season without us being in Europe, I think we needed someone in to replace him who will be ready to play straight away in the first team.

Actually we probably do need another midfielder. It seems Pardew like 4-2-3-1 (or a variation if this) and if this is the case we now have three internationals playing there, with it being their actual position. Building on this base allows us options up front, where the manager will need to be more creative, and have the option to make impact subs etc. I think it's a clever and very key signing.

Given Hughton's track record Campbell would have come good, we just didn't give him time <neg>

You say that but look how our tactics altered last year when tiote was injured and we didn't have a dedicated DM, we ended up playing that ridiculous high line which lead to losses vs west brom, spurs and Fulham to name but a few. Without that we could have made the CL! Hopefully Anita will prove a worthy understudy to tiote and even if not he can atleast fit into the rotation system and has more experience than Ammy and Bigi (although I'd like to see them too!)

This is exactly what we need. DM cover/competition. We're in 4 freaking competitions this season. Now role on a CB (Douglas perhaps waiting for Dutch citizenship) and a striker and bish bash bosh we've had a great window. Obviously Debuchy would improve a weak area which would be nice but we do have plenty of bodies to cover RB.

With Willo and Perch, backed up by Good, I don't think we'll sign another CB.

I hope we get a full back and a wide attacker / striker.

But I can see Tavernier having plenty game time this year which I'm looking forward too. He's fast becoming my new favorite youth player.
