Closest I can get is; ultra-defensive because Bruce knows they need the 3 points so much, he hopes they will get desperate as the game goes on and leave themselves exposed at the back. Left some of the faster players on the bench (Almiron and Murphy) so that he can bring them on fresh to exploit the counter attack in the later stages when the desperation kicks in.

Convinced? No, I'm not either. Who knows wtf goes on in Bruce's brain.
Think you're giving Bruce too much credit with that kind of logic and tactical forward thinking

No urgency when we attack and 5 of our players all clustered together on the left hand side. Awful.

Well i mean on the bench you have almiron, matty and others u could move in and have 4 at the back with more attackers
I know, it's why I'm not understanding people thinking the back 5 is negative. If anything we should whinging about the midfield
There's 4 centre halfs in a back 5, it's stupidly negative and that's why the midfield is so weak. Drop one and play another attacking player and we'd all be happier.

Ritchie has been shocking, stick Murphy as a wing back? I wouldn't complain. Making them look like Barcelona man <laugh>

This is the final straw as far as I'm concerned. Bruce has to go tonight if we don't win. No reason whatsoever to set up so negatively.

5 defenders and 3 defensive midfielders against the side looking to break the record for the lowest ever Premier League points tally. They've not won a game all season and only have 2 points but Bruce seems to think we're playing 2010 Barcelona.

Because we have drunk the nufc kool aid. What I struggle to answer is why would any neutral ever bother to watch us anymore. We are the opposite of the entertainers that we once aspired to. If I didn't support the club I would go out of my way to give our games a miss.

Bruce has keenly identified that it was a bit embarrassing to give Derby all those points in the record setting season Sheff Utd are trying to match, so naturally something that looks vaguely like a 5-4-1 is the only way to go to avoid that again.

Murphy's played full back, he'd be perfectly fine as a wing back. Or play Dummett left in a back four, his best position. Anything but this s***.

Don’t think I’ll see the second half if this continues. If we lose this and Bruce isn’t sacked then I fear for us.
