To put that proposed number into context; Thailand currently gets 20 million tourists a year.
Would you go to Iran where you can't drink and women are still deemed second class citizens?

My first time in that exact place, learned to ski in Les Deux Alpes though, did they ever open the link between them? I'd love to go back to Les2Alpes for nostalgia.overseasTOON wrote:Love that place.Pretty Terrible Attacking Options wrote:Alpes D'huez in March

Hi lads,
one month to go until my first trip to the toon with my mates.
Any recommendations for restaurants and places to visit besides the typical sights?
Which pubs would you recommend before/after the match on Saturday?

To be honest I was wondering if the Strawberry won't be packed if it's situated right next to SJP.Benjamin Button wrote:Wont get in the Strawberry head to either The Three Bulls or The Goose on your way there nip into China Town (Stowell Street) and get a delicious meal before you hit the beers all within short walkAndy the German lad wrote:

China Town sounds like a good option for lunch before the match.
Re: Holidays
Strawberry is great for pre match atmosphere, it's always packed though so make use of the double pint glass as it takes a while to get to the bar. But if you aren't planning on turning up until around an hour before kick off then don't bother with the Strawberry, you should get there early if you are planning on going there.Frank Dialogue wrote:Strawberry next to the ground looks good on matchday.Andy the German lad wrote:Hi lads,![]()

Otherwise pretty much everywhere is decent on a match day, the five swans if you like wetherspoons is a good shout, Hyena/Soho is normally where we go and thats ok, bar loco is another thats near the ground and a decent shout as well. I'd avoid the stadium bars, shearers (9 I think its called now) and the terrace. They are ok but you can get a better atmosphere elsewhere and better drink choices.

Spanish bastards. Went to Barcelona last week, got there at ten, threw the cases in and headed for the Ramblas which is the Main Street in the city centre. After two hundred yards of walking, this Cronut came up to me asking for fags, where you from etc. Then he got hold of my hand and said "let's Salsa" I said no then I felt his hand go to my back pocket, so I got hold of him and pushed him away. This is on a busy street! Anyhow, a minutes walk down the road he tried to do the same. I cocked a punch at him and he f***ed off. Had summat to eat, then on the way back, six (that is an honest conservative estimate) split me and the Mrs. up and had another go. They split us up very cleverly, the Mrs made that much noise and attracted attention they stopped. Not one f***ing person came to help us. A bloke came up as we walked away and apologised and said not everyone in Barcelona is like that. Twats.
Later on the break, we saw an old woman have a s*** up against a tree on the Ramblas and wiped her arse with her hand. Gangs of tramps and thieves everywhere. On the beach there's a nudist bit right next to where young kids walk and they can see. f***ing perverts. A Chinese lass had her phone taken off her outside our hotel, they didn't want to call the police. The coppers know what goes on and do sod all about it. I certainly won't be going back, not that that will affect the Spanish economy. We weren't scared really, just absolutely appalled that this goes on and every Cronut turns a blind eye.
Beautiful city, but they can shove it up their arse. The Spanish bastards.

There's a stupid local law that any theft under €50 (iirc) can't go towards a full criminal case, just a fine. So the police know about gangs of muggers, but only pick them up and fine them. So the gangs know they are ok if they don't get caugh 2/3 time.

COT, I have a git big bruise on my wrist still from where one of the twats tried to get my watch. To be honest, It didn't really affect us and we were laughing about it the next day. However, if this had happened to an older couple, I could see it really affecting their lives. It's so sad that things like that happen and are brushed under the carpet by the authorities. Absolutely beautiful city but they don't deserve any visitors. Cronuts.

That's awful, I'm glad you managed to laugh it off. I agree, it's unbelievable that with tourism being such a big part of the city it's so bad. I know sometimes it's hard to completely eradicate, but surely more can be done.Somebody's pinched my sombrero wrote:COT, I have a git big bruise on my wrist still from where one of the twats tried to get my watch. I went with the family as a teenager and saw two men following us down the main drag. We got very mindful and were rushing back home when the police came and the men ran. My sister swore off the city at that point.
