Think you will find there is a subtle difference between pundit ( expert) and commentator ( someone blessed with the ability to commentate). <disgrace>

I've never heard a single female pundit on any mens game. Commentators yes but no pundits.no problem with that if they are decent

And having them on women's games is fine

Here you go.
Chelsea striker Eniola Aluko made history by becoming Match of the Day's first ever female pundit. Aluko joined Mark Chapman, Kevin Kilbane and John Motson in the MOTD2 Extra

Not on a live game though. And she was good, erudite and knowledgeable. Better some of the rubbish guests they've had on ff. What's the issue? Judge them on how they appear not gender

She's been playing at the highest level available to her for 14 years, she probably knows more about the game than any of us ever will.

My point was once you go down the quota route ( reflecting numbers in society) you simply forget the reason people get selected for jobs is normally talent and experience. Alan Shearer isn't on MOTD because he's black or gay. He's on because of years of playing at the very top so can actually give you a personal insight. Robbie Savage on the other hand is on because he's an argumentative wind up merchant. Henry putting him in his box on BBC World Cup was class.

Are they doing quotas though, there no evidence they are. One or two women for all the radio and TV they do suggests they are Far away from a quota

The BBC's Director General recently laid out their position :.

Half of our audiences are female (and so is half of our staff) and intrinsic to our public purpose remit is the BBC's commitment to reflect all society and to give a voice to those who are not always heard or seen as well as to the mainstream. <ok>

That doesn't mean literally every programme has to be 50/50 men and women. The BBC as a whole should aim to be balanced, obviously.

Good use of the topic "things in football that shouldn't piss you off but do", I guess.

Wasn't that in reference to the BBC in general? The DG wouldn't comment on that specifically
It's not happening very much atm, how about waiting until it does for complaining.

I don't give a s*** whether its a man or woman doing the punditry so long as they know what they're talking about.

Some cronut very recently said something about football being "too male and pale". I mean FFS. There's probably more black people in football than there are white people, and there is a women's game. The only people who degrade the women's game are actually those that advocate every half decent female pundit or official being put on the mens game eg Sian Massey.

Also people who go on about black managers are cronuts. The figures show that black peple aren't being arsed with completing the relevant qualifications, yet people think they should still get jobs on the premise of being black. Racists.

Think you would find racists wouldn't want them to get jobs BTW.

To be fair this makes a lot more sense in Latin countries for two reasons: first, Spanish and Portuguese names have your maternal and paternal surnames so they're really long (e.g. Edson Arantes do Nascimento, aka Pele: Arantes is his mother's name, do Nascimento his father's), and the second is there are a very limited pool of surnames in those countries. About 70% of all Argentinians would share about 10-15 surnames (Gutierrez, Gonzalez etc.).
Out of interest how does this then work if Pele marries someone with an equally long maternal/paternal surname? Does the child take all four names and we go on ad infinitum? Because that could get ridiculous.

The paternal ones continue - so for Pele he'd only pass on Nascimento. (Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier...)
