Matchday thread - Toon v Citeh
Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Citeh
Finally a good performance and a win in the league.
Hopefully we kick on from here in what should be a winnable run of games

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Citeh
Some delightful afters as well, Tindall pushing Dias away from the ref, and yet more between Joelinton and Donnarumma. Perfection.

What a difference Tino & Hall made .
Onwards & upwards

Great win, but tells us absolutely nothing about Newcastle!
We go into Everton next weekend not having a f***ing clue what to expect

To be fair we could get tonked by Marseille on Tuesday to muddy the waters further.bodacious benny wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 10:10 pm Great win, but tells us absolutely nothing about Newcastle!

That for our current game plan to work , we need 2 speedy & mobile fullbacks in Tino & Hall. Take them out and the options are massively reduced bearing in mind we dont have a speedy striker through the middle.
Those 2 controlled passages of play yesterday by linking well with wingers & midfield.
As long as those 2 are there & fit it also gives us the option of 3 at the back with them as wingback. Perhaps more solidify away from home
In the absence of a 2nd striker this would allow Barnes or Gordon to play closer to Walt as a 2nd striker - with the midfield 3 assisted by Schar or Thiaw bringing the ball out if defence and making a extra body in the middle at times .
That line up would also allow us to have the 3 big centre backs , Joe , Walt all up at corners - which woukd be unstoppable.
I still think we need to see Ramsdale in goal for his passing ability - still think were conceding possession from Pope's punts - and that our defence don't want to give it to him & hence get into trouble .
Eddie seems quite stubborn when it comes to Pope imho

Is it okay to feel a bit of Schadenfreude at the rat’s continued fuckup in both Liverpool and for his national team? Of course, being Norwegian I find both the rat’s and Sweden’s problems particularly delicious.

Good window to bring some confidence into Marseille game as they're doing well.
I'll Hazard a guess

Yes...In terms of Sweden I think the big miss there is Kulusevski he makes them tick.ToonViking wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 9:53 am Is it okay to feel a bit of Schadenfreude at the rat’s continued fuckup in both Liverpool and for his national team? They've certainly got goals in them and the Stade Velodrome is a tough place to play.lassassinblanc wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 12:02 pm Good window to bring some confidence into Marseille game as they're doing well.
At least they don't have Didier bloody Drogba this time to thrash us.

They've got a hell of a lot of pace in the teamoverseasTOON wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 12:43 pmThey've certainly got goals in them and the Stade Velodrome is a tough place to play.lassassinblanc wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 12:02 pm Good window to bring some confidence into Marseille game as they're doing well.

Greenwood and Paixao are rapid in behind. Aubamayang has lost a bit of his pace but hes still clever in his movement.
I think we need to start Tino and Hall to counter this, Burn and Trippier would be torn apart by them imo

Probably not wise starting Tino again so soon after just coming back and playing a full game v city tho.

Thaiw (maybe Kraft), Schar, Botman and Burn at the back for Tuesday.
No way should and will Tino/Hall play so soon.

Trips at right back perhaps and maybe let Tino and Hall share minutes at left back?
I wonder if Botman comes back in for this one and then Schar back again v Everton to keep things fresh?

I assumed Trips was out. Think it's a guarentee Burn is back in the team for this one but with 9 points in the champions league already, i'd say the Everton game is more import.bodacious benny wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 2:50 pm Trips at right back perhaps and maybe let Tino and Hall share minutes at left back?

Edit - Confirmed trippier is out. Gordon back in the squad, but probably not at RB
