Get the quality on the pitch......oh look , we attacked, enough said
Clydeside & Tyneside
Re: Match days thread - Burnley v NUFC
I think ASM might be worth 300m alone
Re: Match days thread - Burnley v NUFC
To be fair Almiron literally collapsed after that run where ASM slipped it to Longstaff and Longstaff couldn’t get it through to him. Also Longstaff always looks like he’s blowing.Donkey Toon wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 12:53 pm Longstaff is looking out on his feet whilst Almiron is still full of running, so who does Bruce substitute!?
Brilliant result though, so critical. ASM & Dubravka in inspired form, but shout outs to Fernandez, Dummett, Murphy and Longstaff who all played critical roles there. Clark stepped it up second half too after a ropey first 45 mins.
I had the first custom w***

Looking at the next five, what's everyone's thoughts on our approach to those games. Coming away with any points (bar Arsenal, we can get something there) for me the key is our GD. Do not want to be going into that final game of the season with the risk of being relegated on GD.

We’ve got 4 points from our last 2 games with him at RWB and he got himself a goal, I can’t see Bruce changing it as he generally sticks with something that’s getting results regardless of opposition.Colback's Orange Tufts wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 1:09 pm Yeah Murphy handled mcneil very well and still managed to trouble their left back.

Our GD already one worse than Burnley. If they make up a six point difference with us before the last day, they'd probably be ahead anyway. Especially as we have two more to play

I've given him a lot of stick this season but thought Longstaff was great today, that's 2 games he's been pretty decent, Good to get some minutes into Wilson too. Murphy is turning into a decent player for us and ASM on his day is like having an up for it Ben Arfa all over again.

Yeah Longstaff has been very good last two games. Showing some of the form he showed when he first broke into the team. Hopefully he can keep it going and maybe even improve on it.Don Sholeone wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 2:07 pm I've given him a lot of stick this season but thought Longstaff was great today, that's 2 games he's been pretty decent, Good to get some minutes into Wilson too. He still has a way to go to get back to the level he was at when he first broke into the team but shown some good stuff of late (and will be lacking match sharpness).

Wow! What a comeback and massive three points. I didn't get to watch the second half but by the comments on here.. bringing Wilson & ASM on changed the game completely. I just saw the highlights & what a cracker by Murphy.. really stepping it up recently & showing he should be a regular starter weather at RWB or on the wing. ASM.. what can I say on his day he's breathtaking & a true match winner. I hope he stays next season but will he want to stay under Bruce & keep fighting for relegation/mid-table mediocrity? He's still young so he should stay with us for another season & if he keeps performing consistently then nobody can criticize him for leaving.
Overall.. apart from the 2 goals did we play well in the second half? cause the first half was a shambles.. Would people stick with the same formation / same personal apart from Joelinton/Gayle who should be replaced by ASM/Wilson for next week & why didn't Willock get subbed on?
BIG three points & hopefully we can build on this so we can safe by the time we play Fulham. West Ham are on fire with Lingard & co.. but I have a feeling they might slip up against us

But he still covers more ground than anyone and was making tackles all over the pitch at the end. Think he just looks knackered because of his running style and the fact his face goes red after 2 minutesToondes wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 3:16 pmHe always looks absolutely knackered to me.Bodacious Benny wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 2:47 pm He still has a way to go to get back to the level he was at when he first broke into the team but shown some good stuff of late (and will be lacking match sharpness).

Ive given him some stick as well but Longstaff has filled in for Hayden really well so far. Great to see.Don Sholeone wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 2:07 pm I've given him a lot of stick this season but thought Longstaff was great today, that's 2 games he's been pretty decent, Good to get some minutes into Wilson too. I'm hoping we get Murphy contract sorted, think he's developed into a solid PL player. Been impressed with how he's progressed since those poor first years here.

I have to say Shelvey has been better lately - it suits him to sit in front of back 3 and not have get up and down the pitch. He's been quite good at breaking up the play. (Never thought I'd say that). Then you have Longstaff doing the running.

I don't think Murphy has received enough credit for his goal. Yes ASM did really well to set him up but he took it really well, pace, curl and power. Cracking finish.
