It has emerged in France that Marseille are at the centre of a criminal investigation and some senior directors have been charged, with some 800 bank accounts and 110 companies being examined.

If that is accurate, transactions involving messrs Cabella, Thauvin and Ben Arfa could be under scrutiny.

However a firm denial soon came from French news site RMC that Marseille had any involvement in the investigations.

Other news outlets over the channel have speculated that the French tax investigation involves former Marseille directors.
