So, Mark Douglas has said that we're going to get a striker now and sort out the defence in the summer.. surely pressure on the players weighs both ways? Defenders underperform because of the pressure caused by not being able to score, so we rely on them more to keep a clean sheet but, as a striker, surely you feel more pressure knowing that every chance you get is crucial because we have to score 2 goals to win a game. Realistically, if we sign a good defender and we keep 4 clean sheets over the rest of the season and we continue to score 1 goal a game, we get 12 points from that and pick up enough points elsewhere that we stay up.

So, if we can't guarantee the arrival of a proven goalscorer, i.e. Remy, then don't bother getting a striker at all. Especially not Gomis. Instead, use the time you're using to go and sort out your defence. Christ, Tony Pulis has kept clubs up in the Premier League for a decade off being able to keep clean sheets. It wouldn't hurt us to be able to keep one, once in a while.

Or, if the strikers had managed to score a goal in one or more of those matches from one of the many chances created we wouldn't be in the relegation zone!

His record is ok. Seemed to struggle in Italy but apparently he joined right after ACoN and admitted it wasn't the best time for him. Said the Roma fans booed him from the get go.

He's got some serious pace on him; our counter attack is going to be like 100m sprint every time we get the ball with Townsend, Gini, Sissoko and Doumbia.

AND we actually have a CM who can put some propers balls in

If we'd scored a single goal in any of those games we get a point. Not even top sides keep 4 clean sheets in a row, so expecting us to do so is daft, you can't play for 0-0 draws. Look at Everton, West Brom and Arsenal, all games where we were undone by late goals after the defense stayed strong for 75%+ of games. Our front end has to take some pressure off by actually getting a goal.

Yeah but we're not conceding 11 goals a game, aside from a few drubbings we're conceding 1 and even then sometimes only from a stupid mistake.

In fairness, for a good lot of those games our defence was getting bombarded and held strong most of the match, it's understandable they're inevitably going to concede when we're inviting other teams to attack us.

Our defence is genuinely dreadful! Only two teams have conceded more goals than we have. Even Villa have conceded less. How many of the goals we've conceded have been avoidable ? A hell of a lot of them.
