This. Great battling point & team spirit to hang in there and get a point, we could have even won it ourselves if Thauvin was just a few inches tallerBodacious Benny wrote:Delighted with that, superb team display. Mitrovic is going to be great for us, Wijnaldum oozes class. Thought Thauvin looked good when he came on, and Perez was decent. Colo and Taylor were superb.

On that performance I think I'd be putting Perez on the left wing from now on. Can't really say anyone played badly today but colback did my head in.

The one negative for me today was Obertan. I'm not really his harshest critic but the number of times he left his runner was embarrassing. I felt sure it was going to cost us in the end. Luckily it didn't. Anyways great team performance, plenty of positives for sure.
Re: Manchester Utd vs Newcastle Utd – 22/08/15
Hopefully Thauvin will be starting ahead of him from now on. Obertan was absolute garbage today, there was a point we were countering and he managed to turn it into a Man Utd attack by just dallying on the ball and doing nothing.nufc1991 wrote:The one negative for me today was Obertan. Few of the l'OM fans said Thauvin was made to track back by Bielsa, he did it really well apparently, he just used to complain about it a lot. Anything is better than Obertan at this point though.

Anyone else think we might pick up 3 points against Arsenal?
If we carry on our defending into that game with Mitro and Thauvin starting I think we have a really good chance, especially considering its another early kick off and Arsenal will be playing Monday night so its a short week for them.

I'd 100% take another 0-0. To get any points from these games is a bonus, we had an awful start which on paper should (and still may) of left us bottom after 4 games.Don Sholeone wrote:Anyone else think we might pick up 3 points against Arsenal?

You never know, depends which arsenal turns up. Regardless tho, I think most of us would've taken a couple of points from our opening four matches.Don Sholeone wrote:Anyone else think we might pick up 3 points against Arsenal?

3 of our next five after that are West Ham, Watford and Norwich. Really need 7 points from those matches to crack on.

Hopefully get our first win of the season and start Mitro scoring.Don Sholeone wrote:Forgot that we play Northampton next week, there goes the short week advantage
More time the team has playing together the better.

So, what's the positive and negatives from today's game?
Great result, two points more than most expected so far.

Would f***ing love it if we beat Arsenal.
Although all I ask of is a good performance, obviously we need to get a win in the winnable fixtures however. Hopefully Thauvin spells the end for Obertan, out of anyone aside from Williamson he should have no future here,he is shocking
Probably could do with more quality in the center mid area also. We would really appreciate it if Tiote gets back to his best there was so much space in front of the back four

17 tackles in three games from Mbemba, he's a tackling machine

+ Haidara looking better
+ Mitrovic could cause opposition defenders real trouble
+ Thauvin looked fairly settled already
- Still Obertan
- Worries about lack of service in the air to Mitro
- Still lacking that "spark" in midfield

Agree with all these apart from do you not think Gini is bringing us that spark in the midfield that we lacked last season?I want soutzoukakia smyrneika too wrote:+ Coloccini can still be greatJaiston wrote:So, what's the positive and negatives from today's game?

I think with Colo, we know he can have these games, but it's about how often, it's rare he gets a run of good performances.
