Re: Austin deal done?
Surely has to be Chelsea rumours, can't crush my dream again.
Re: Austin deal done?
I reckon it is the Chelsea rumours he's on about. I get the impression he's agreed to join us and thought that it was common knowledge in the media then this daft Chelsea showing interest rumour appeared and he's just trying to rubbish that.
Hopefully as soon he gets released from England duty the deal will be wrapped up and we'll have got our man.

Re: Austin deal done?
I doubt it's about the Newcastle link based not on everything that's been reported so far but due to his interaction with Shearer the other week. Even if there wasn't strong interest that kind of thing would fuel speculation And Charlie would know that, thus knowing 'where people get this stuff from'.
Add in the actual strong interest and it surely can't be, but then again nothing would surprise me!

Re: Austin deal done?
If Austin was talking about the rumour to NUFC surely he'd have tweeted about a week ago

Only really gathered pace the past few days though.beardface wrote:If Austin was talking about the rumour to NUFC surely he'd have tweeted about a week ago
Re: Austin deal done?
BBC gossip (Evening Standard) saying West Ham & Southampton both interested. To me it's looking less & less likely he's coming to us.
And in conclusion, how far had you got through reading this before you realised it was my signature?

Or the Agent trying one last push to up the price before he signs.Alfie wrote:BBC gossip (Evening Standard) saying West Ham & Southampton both interested. To me it's looking less & less likely he's coming to us.
But yeah, can see him going elsewhere now.
Re: Austin deal done?
If its between us, the dippers, Southampton and West Ham then we won't get him simply because we'll offer the lowest amount for him. The asking price is £15m. We'll probably offer about £12m at most. West Ham and Southampton will just meet the asking price of £15m and the dippers will offer about £25m.
We need to stop this penny pinching nonsense and just offer the going rate for players otherwise we'll continue to end up with 3rd and 4th choice targets and as a result we'll continue to not underperform compared to our expectations. You'd think the club would have learnt by now.

I'd still say we have the best shout as far as a guaranteed starting spot and meeting the £15m valuation for him.Over The Line wrote:Or the Agent trying one last push to up the price before he signs.Alfie wrote:BBC gossip (Evening Standard) saying West Ham & Southampton both interested. Got a feeling 2 or 3 clubs could meet the evaluation but we're not going to pay as much as the likes of West Ham or Southampton who've both got European football next season.Juliet Papa Golf wrote:I'd still say we have the best shout as far as a guaranteed starting spot and meeting the £15m valuation for him.Over The Line wrote:

Bring in the big man!
It also looks as if Southampton are bringing in that Juanmi, so i don't know if this would rule them out of getting Austin as well? Could be wrong obviously though!
