Newcastle's head coach will be in place sooner than that, because it'll be John Carver.

Carver delivering EPL safety a month ago would have been shoe in for job. Not now. :)

A guy who thought that Carver is good enough, chooses between Vieira and McLaren <laugh>

On the plus side at least if it is McClaren then it'll be the first time Ashley's appointed a manager not from London or an (adopted) Geordie. Maybe next time he'll branch out his scouting to include foreign lands.

Kinnear was Irish. He's appointed two cockneys, a Yorkshireman and an Irish fella. Not sure what difference it makes to be honest.

Kinnear's not Irish, he just played for the Irish national team. Same with a bunch of 80s players. You only have to have one Irish grandparent to qualify, though they might've tightened up since.

I'd say being born in Dublin makes you Irish.

If he'd actually have been good at his job he'd have been English. As it is, he's Irish.

That's the rule.

I really got my hopes up for Vieira. I think he is the man that could really bring some fresh new ideas in and turn this club around. Instead, we are going for another dinosaur who wasn't good enough for a Championship team. I really hope that Telegraph story is full of s***. <urgh>

As TJR mentioned, Kinnear was actually born in Ireland, so he's definitely Irish.
