Who would be keeping him out? He's ahead of Rivière and Ferreyra in the pecking order, Cissé is the only striker struggling with injuries (we signed SDJ to be our 10).
The likes of Riviere, Cisse, Perez, and SDJ would keep him out, because at least 2 of them would be on the bench and the rest would be midfielders, defenders and a keeper'.

So yeah, he wouldn't make to bench, simple as that.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, speaking to Sky Sports:

"We were chasing the game and in terms of cover committing we had warned the players that Sunderland might score that way, and we were punished. But on another day we would have won. We had good chances. Ayoze Perez was the brightest player on the pitch.

"You are pushing and we wanted to win - we would take the draw now but if you draw without pushing for the win you would be disappointed. Maybe we pushed a bit too hard but I am not going to criticise my players. They put in everything they could. Sunderland edged the first half but second half we went up a level. We should be sitting here as winners but we have lost. We now have to regroup and take our second half form into the game against Manchester United.

"Both goalkeepers played well, but I was pleased for Jak Alnwick. He stood up to enormous pressure but it is disappointing for our fans. Losing four times in a row against Sunderland is a tag that is going to stick on me now so I will have to wear it.

"I am proud of how the team approached the game today. It wasn't our day. Criticism that might come my way or the teams way, we will have to accept. We can't listen or absorb it, we have to prepare ourselves for the next game."

Armstrong did well, won a few headers, made good runs and linked up the play well. He's already a better footballer than Cisse, just a little raw still.

Armstrong is only 17 and was good today, great movement, decision making will come with time. He really should have squared it to Sissoko though. I don't know why Pardew brought him on so early today, was always going to be a huge ask for him to make an impact, but he did well.

"not going to listen or learn from criticism and just play the same tactics next time out cos you know they work", sounds like our Pards.

And that is precisely why he continues to make the same mistakes over and over again.

<ok> I was so relieved he did shoot. The shot could've been better but I'd have been worried about his eye for goal if he passed there.

Two poor teams and a poor match, overall they deserved the win.

On a scale of zero to ten, how big is the metldown on here?

Zero, there is no meltdown, only 100% warranted concerns and abuse being directed towards Alan Pardew <ok>

We're going to get raped at Old Trafford, Everton will rape us.

Dark days ahead, and Pardew the joke will never go. How hard is it to start Haidara and Dummet at centre back and Cabs instead of Gouffran. How difficult is it to play your best 11. How hard is it to give Cabella time to adapt to the league?

Losing 4 Derbies in a row is a disgrace, he will never get sacked can't wait till Fatley f***s off and Pardew the cronut goes.

He never changes, what an arsehole

I'm calling rubbish on that.

Pardew has lost 4 - April 2013, October 2013, February 2014, December 2014.

Shearer and Hughton lost none.

Kinnear lost 1 - October 2008.

Allardyce, Roeder, Souness and Keegan lost none.

Sir Bobby lost 1 - November 2000.

Gullit lost 1 - August 1999.

Dalglish, Ardiles and Keegan lost none.

Jim Smith lost 1 - May 1990.

McFaul, Charlton and Knox lost none.

McGarry lost 2 - February 1979 and April 1980.

Dinnis and Lee lost none.

Harvey lost 4 - October 1963, January 1966, October 1966 and March 1967.

Norman Smith lost 1 - April 1962.

Charlie Mitten lost none.

Those are our preceding 22 managers, unless whoever came up with this stat is counting caretakers who were in for 2-3 games.

Edit: Even if you include the caretakers (Hughton, Shearer, Kinnear, Hughton, Keegan, Pearson, Allardyce, Pearson, Roeder, Souness, Carver, Robson, Clarke, Gullit, Dalglish, McDermott, Keegan, Ardiles, Saxton, Smith, Suggett, McFaul) you still get Pardew - 4, predecessors - 4.
