I hope Alnwick doesn't get any blame mind, it was a quality finish he could nothing about. Poor defending and poor finishing cost us there. I knew once we fired it directly at their keeper twice that they'd score and win.

So against one old and slow defence, you didn't bring your most skillful player until 86th min. Against one old, slow central defender who play at the LB, you didn't say to your players to attack through him... What a clueless prick.

So?

You dont win games based upon chances created, possession and territory.

You wins games based upon goals scored, and if you score more goals than the other team then you win the game.

Simple really
Correct, that is how results are determined, but "deserving" to win is more to do with the overall performance than what the objective result was.

I'm sure the Sunderland players will have a great time celebrating round John o'Shea's in Ponteland tonight <ok>

I think it's gutting because we actually played fairly well, just couldn't do it when it counted. I knew we'd lose though so my disappointment is somewhat diminished. Felt worse on Wednesday than I do now.

At the end of the day, whether you feel as though you deserved it or not is completely irrelevant.

I guess we might as well just shut this place down and replace it with a list of results if opinions aren't worth discussing.

Pardew was so desperate to win he lost it for us.

We were dominating them but ended up with too many attacking players and the counter goal was painfully obvious.

So disappointing.

Don't understand this mindset that we deserved the win. Are we back to the retards who think whichever team has the most possession was the better team? Thought we finally put that to bed when Spain got raped in the World Cup. Sunderland had AT LEAST 4 almost unmissable chances in the game, it's a miracle they didn't score more. We bossed the ball but struggling to think of more than 2 clear chances that we had. Sunderland were FAR more creative and fully deserving of their 3 points. Pardew out.

Absolutely spot on. From the outside people will say we were unlucky but it's classic Pardew again, gets caught up in the passion and makes changes a 10 year old would on fifa

The belief killed me, the finishing was poor all game, Perez should have scored, so should have a couple of their players. I really thought we would win going into the last ten minutes <neg>

Brilliant finish. I'd rather a goal like that than one off somebody's arse.

Perez was excellent today, but he should have scored. Armstrong looked decent. The wingers today Sammy and Gouffran were dreadful.

The most disappointing bit for me is that we had five men back, but they all followed the ball to the right when they had two men on our left.

I'm furious.

Pardew's inability to motivate the team to fight always seems to manifest itself in the Derby's. They simply wanted it more than us.

Struggle to think of a more tactically naive manager than Pardew. It beggars belief.

I don't think motivation is the problem. Our play was all passion and there seemed to be no plan. They had a plan and it worked.
