Can't believe he's still down at number 8 though, needs a favourable draw at Wimbledon. I wouldn't even rule him out at Roland Garros, got a feeling Nadal won't win it.
Murray's down in 6th as well <yikes> Although I've just checked and the ranking points are close from 5-8th so Federer will almost certainly be somewhere between those come Wimbledon.

Such a strange season so far. Federer back up to 4th, Murray down in 8th in the rankings.

Djokovic beats Nadal again, for the Rome Masters after losing first set 6-4.

4-6 6-3 6-3 final result.

His first tournament back from injury.

Djokovic is favourite for the French Open in my opinion. He's back to his best and Nadal has been woeful on clay so far this year. Ferrer and Almagro have both beaten him, Nishikori was all over him before his back injury too. The tournament's usually a foregone conclusion before it's even started but it's pretty open this year.

I still maintain that given how good he is he should have more grand slams then he has done given Roland Garros is pretty much guaranteed for him every year.

He is four behind Federer who has the most ever and is five years younger <scratch>. Not to mention he has missed long periods of time due to his knee.

I'm not doubting that clearly it's very good. I'm just saying he maybe should have more. Of course his record on clay is exceptional, but he should be looking to win about 1 of every 4 of the other majors which he hasn't done. It's not just Nadal either, if I were Federer I'd be disappointed with my record in majors post 2009.

To be fair to Nadal and Federer they are playing in arguably the most competitive era of mens tennis ever. Also about the Nadal thing, since 2008 he has won a GS outside of the French every year apart from 2011 and 2012 where he was injured a lot.

Easy win for Nadal today, warned a few times for being too slow...more of that coming into his game.
