Shola changed his career path to suit the long ball?

Still haven't (and don't intend to) watched MOTD this week.

I'm often surprised at how little Premier League football interests me when we lose, regardless of opponent. I haven't watched us lose on MOTD for about five years now.

Moving past our despicable showing, I thought the Mackems looked excellent. They'll go far under Poyet.

I've got it set to record every 'episode' but I've forgotten to watch any of them this season and miniOT is pestering me about all the space it's taken up because she has to keep deleting her programs to free up space.

You should delete them all. None are worth watching. Genuinely the worst pundits on TV with the exception of this new bunch of BT numbnuts, who I haven't seen that often to be fair.

I already had BT Infinity so BT Sports came free.

All I can say is the day BT want to charge me for it is the day I cancel.

This. Stoke battered them the other night but still never looked like scoring. Sunderland keep the ball on the ground, make space and pressure the other teams when not in possession. It's amazing how actually playing the game properly works. We like to hoof the ball, not make any space (and when we do Sissoko goes with the worst option anyway) and we back off and invite attacks. We like to get teams on the counter-attack which is fine when your players don't just jog up the pitch and hold the ball up for long enough to let the opposition get back in numbers to defend. If Poyet does well in the transfer window, I think things will be looking up for them.

I follow Valenciennes so PSG (or any Parisian based club) mean nothing to me in Ligue 1. When I lived in Dover it was an easy football ground to get to with the advantage that I could mix it with a weekend in France so enjoy a nice meal and wine as well. They never appear on BT Sports though <fist>

I'm not quite jumping on the Poyet bandwagon yet. Yes they've done well of late, but I'll wait and see how it has panned out this time next year.

It's not jumping on the bandwagon, he has quite clearly polished a turd. The lack of quality is still there in the side, but you can see he has adapted their style of play to suit the squad he has.

I don't think they have played particularly well of late. They had a blinder against us but last few games the have looked very average.

To get that set of players playing even at an average level is remarkable in itself, as most of them are garbage. They were utter dross for the first few months, Poyet has came in and gradually they've developed into a decent side. You'd have thought Jack Colback was Xavi on Saturday, he was incredible. A few decent signings in the summer and they'll be pushing for the top half easily, perhaps even higher.

He's got them well organised defensively and is getting the best out of Johnson and Borini. Bridcutt was excellent against us, and so was Colback. So those two could be huge players for them.
