Krul - 7 Actually had a good game. Stopped a one-on-one, came 35 yards off his line to stop another one-on-one, made an excellent save for the second goal. Kicking was decent. He effectively was playing with no defence and he didn't make any mistakes

Debuchy - 3 Got turned over and over again. Slow
Williamson - 3.5 Shouldn't have started.
Taylor - 4 A little better
Santon - 2.5 He's not a full-back. I'm not having it. He's a good footballer but a s*** defender

Anita - 3 Stupid foul, dominated by Jack f***ing Colback
Tioté - 5.5 Relatively good but a few poor passes

Sissoko - 5 Managed a few runs with no end product, which was unfortunately a highlight of the game for us
Ben Arfa - 4 Lost it countless times as usual
Sammy - 6 Just about our best player in the first half. Laughable that he got subbed. It's like Pardew works in opposite land or something

Shola - 2 I can't give him a 1 because that would mean it was "Among the worst performances of all time" and even though in terms of most footballers it would be, for Shola it was a standard game as he has a tonne of worse performances.

De Jong - 5 Looks half decent. Seems he's unable to shoot properly but his all-round play was in a different universe compared with Shola
Dummett - 4 Meh
Marveaux - NA

Pardew - 1 Got everything wrong. I like to think I'm quite unbiased when it comes to Pardew but today he f***ed up beyond measure

After so little game time it's encouraging that de Jong was getting chances.

Should be starting for the rest of the season. Shola shouldn't even be on the bench, I'd rather give a young academy prospect a place on the bench.

I think we scouted the whole of Italy to find a defender that can't defend. <applause>

Krul - 4.5 - Did excellently to deny Altidore one of the easiest goals in history. Then again it was Altidore he was denying

Debuchy - 4 - Would be a 3 but after going two down he seemed like the only player, with Tiote, who actually cared
Williamson - 3 - Shocking
Taylor - 3 - Shocking
Santon - 1.5 - About as bad a single performance from a Newcastle player in recent history. At least that I can remember. He's not a scapegoat, he's just s***.

Anita - 3 -Don't know what on earth he was thinking tackling like that in the box, ridiculous decision. Would be a two but he played some nice football in the second half, linked well wit De Jong and Ben Arfa a few times
Tioté - 6 - The man cares about Newcastle, he seemed genuinely upset as the game went on and tbf to him, he had a few cracking shots.

Sissoko - 2 - Absolute disgrace. How he's a footballer is beyond me.
Ben Arfa - 4.5 - If he's wise he'll leave in the summer. He has his major flaws but he's too talented for this club. He has the chance to rebecome our main man over the next few weeks but he has a lot of work to do. Like Sissoko, seemed like he didn't care and gave the ball away for their 3rd
Sammy - 6 - MOM for me, seemed to be the only creative outlet, good control and pace, if he had a bit more strength/weight about him I'd be really excited about his future

Shola - 2 - Disgrace.

De Jong - 4 - Amazing positioning, loved his dropping deep to collect the ball but his finishing looks w***. He might just link up brilliantly with Remy if he drops deep and Remy plays off the last defender.
Dummett - n/a - Only marginally better than Santon but Haidara trumps them both.
Marveaux - n/a - He still looks a quality player and with a more mobile attack in front of him he could have set up 1 or 2 chances

Pardew - I don't even want to start.

Krul - 6 Good saves but looked all at sea a few times.

Debuchy - 5 Taken to the cleaners today but is still a class act amongst the dross
Williamson - 4 He looked the Championship player he is today. Showed no intention of playing the ball out of defence constantly hoofing it towards a diabolical forward marked by O'Shea and Brown
Taylor - 5.5 Average swimming against a sea mind.
Santon - 1 I would genuinely say one of the all time worst performances I have seen in Premiership history let alone Toon History. Setpieces woeful, no discipline in his defending. Arguing with Krul......He should be proud of todays masterpiece.

Anita - 5 The tackle was braindead disappeared for the rest fo the game and showed no leadership
Tioté - 5.5 Swamped by the 3 attacking midfielders constantly losing posession. Still one of our very few class acts

Sissoko - 4 Has no end product The sort of player who will end up at West Ham before long.
Ben Arfa - 5 Tried hard but given the rest of his team showed no interest in moving and trying to create space, he was always banging his head off a wall. Pardew playing him on the left in the 2nd half against Bardsley was a tactical masterclass <disgrace>
Sammy - 5.5 Like his two colleagues beside him, he showed no ability to retain the ball for any period of time. Forgiven though given his lack of experience. Desperately needs a COACH to teach him the error of his ways and progress him....wont get it in Pardew

Shola - 2 He brings nothing to the sport. His heading ability is terrible, he is slow, he is lazy, His shooting is terrible. I genuinely cant find a single postive. If you removed his season in the championship when he scored a few his strike rate would be nigh on 1 in 7/8. Incredible to think he might get a testimonial. Should have been shippped out years ago.

De Jong - 6.5 From his bit part showing, i would still hold out hope. One thing I liked was his willingness to drop back and link up and he did find very good space and positions. He has to be forgiven rustiness given hes been warming the bench in Germany.
Dummett - 5.5 Anything would have been an improvement on Santon today, even a bag of turnips
Marveaux - 4.5 Not premiership class.

Pardew - 3 Hes in the job long enough to be judged and I can't find a single redeeming element to him. He is probably the most hated coach in the premiership who unlike Mourinho cant get the results to back up his gobbing off. He just follows the fad of 4-2-3-1 and switches to 4-4-2 when desperate. Tactically out of his depth

Krul - 7, shot thirty-five yards off his line to stop a goal-scoring chance and his initial save for the deflected shot of the second goal was magnificent. Overall a solid performance.

Debuchy - 6
Williamson - 5
Taylor – 5

Santon – 1.5, this was a truly terrible performance from start to finish. Can not cross the ball at all – corners and free-kicks. This really was an embarrassment (especially when pardew's tactics were to cross the ball from everywhere (including our own half!). Morale was so low towards the end. Don't know what to say because it was just so bad.

The whole defensive line wasn't co-ordinated. Back to basics. Need to get rid of both centre-backs this season but ultimately a coaching error and an error of managerial preparation.

Anita – 5 now I know why this guy doesn't get a game. He can't tackle. Gave away a needless penalty that a forward would have been embarrassed of. Feel a little sorry for the guy – needs a few games under his belt. Am worried that he may not be able to come with the pace of the premiership (maybe one of the reasons why pardew has not played him much)

Tioté – 6, We lack a leader who could slow the tempo down to enable us to actually out-football the opposition. It was just too fast to play passing football. he genuinely looked embarrassed at his own players and did try to pick the team up by example, but we really missed cabaye and his ability to play football.

Sissoko – 6, actually got to play in midfield so I have to give him a little slack considering he's been playing on the wing for us.

Ben Arfa – 5, The game was too high-paced for him to have been played in the midfield. He is a small player who needs the ball at his feet with time to start darting runs. Opposition knew he was a weakness and pressed hard...leading to the goal) He must be played as an out-and out forward in a short-ball passing style of game (not boot and hope). Looked as though he was going to cry at the end. Felt sorry because his mistakes were more to do with Pardew than him. Pardew doesn't recognise what he can and can't do, and expects him to defend – ain't never going to happen, dude.

Sammy – 7 didn't do much wrong. Looked bright. Wasn't ever going to win the game though...

Shola – 6, shouldn't have started – only started because he's a geordie and it was a derby. Ultimately Pardew's fault here. Too slow. Too old. To rubbish. Shouldn't be on the books anymore (nor should he ever have been for that matter)

De Jong – 6.5, first game for his new team so couldn't expect much – will take time to settle. I won't judge hard.

Dummett - ??
Marveaux - ??

Pardew – 2. was adjusting to life after cabaye. Major changes. Was forced to play taylor and williamson who are not good enough to play. Clearly weren't coordinated well. Big coaching fault here. BIG! Defensive line lacked a leader (our captain!) and just fell apart from the start. This is an issue with the director of football and the chairman not buying players so can't entirely blame pardew. Selecting santon to take set-pieces was a major mistake – he can't cross at all. So so embarrassing for the guy (major error in management). Ultimately pardew's fault not santon's. Forced to play anita who dosn't look ready or maybe even capable of playing in the premiership...probably why pardew hasn't played him) – this is a fault with transfers (ultimately the director of football's fault – not kinnear, though). Big mistake to play ben arfa as a midfield player as he will eventually give the ball away (play him up front or not at all). Pardew didn't recognise that sunderland would press him hard and wait for a mistake. Pardew's fault to take off sammy (not a good player but wasn't playing badly). PICKED GEORDIES OVER FOOTBALL PLAYERS!!! Grr! Played a game of short-term tactics of luck (long-ball football) over grown-up long-term intelligent strategy of possession and passing (working hard, movement, skill., etc.).

I THINK PARDEW THOUGHT WE WERE PLAYING HOLE-IN-ONE GOLF AND NOT FOOTBALL. Pardew was clearly outclassed by his opposite number but Gus Poyet, who, although looked better because we were so bad, destroyed our new-look team.

i would have started with de jong and ben arfa up front and basically passed the ball until sunderland were knackered from over-pressing...dropping deep in the second half to draw them in to attacking and aiming for a counter-attack by HBA at the end of the game.

Regardless of my personal plan, we needed much more tactical, strategic, and defensive preparation. team didn't know what they were supposed to be doing. The team played like s*** but this was all Pardew's fault when we have a much better team on paper -- and home advantage. i would like to give him the benefit of the doubt and say this is all an adjustment to life after cabaye but i truly don't know what his plan was for this game. he really did look very very s*** today. He plays the long-ball when he has no genuine wingers nor full-backs who can cross the ball -- nor any great success with his strikers scoring from headers and set-pieces. f***ing bizarre.

Krul - 7 - Decent game didn't really do much wrong, the only complaint of mine would be for the 3rd he should have stood up more but other than that decent game. Saved a great 1v1 and made another good couple of saves.

Debuchy - 3.5 - Some moments of promise but Borini mugged him off today every time he was doing new things and Buche wasn't adapting to the speed to play and trickery. Some decent balls in the box from him though.
Williamson - 4.5 - Defensively wasn't actually too bad, don't get me wrong he wasn't good but then again no one was. Main criticism is too much hoof and whenever he is on the ball looks nervous.
Taylor - 3.5 - Not a good game always gets himself caught up in the derby atmosphere and does stupid things to rile/please the crowd rather than focus on the actual task.
Santon - 2.5 - Very very poor at fault for the 2nd goal as well as offering nothing attack wise despite being out of position all the time. I am usually a big fan today though Santon was terrible.

Anita - 3.5 - Poor today passes weren't accurate, gave away the penalty with a silly challenge and overall just let play pass him by.
Tioté - 5.5 - Average game for Tiote gave the ball away a few times but also did a lot of good defensive duty as well. Had a decent couple of shots that tested Mannone as well.

Sissoko - 2 - Sometimes I despair with Sissoko had a great chance to score today and didn't even shoot he just kept taking needless touches. He has all the physical attributes to be a footballer he just needs a footballing brain.
Ben Arfa - 3.5 - Gave the ball away far too many times, was anonymous for the whole first half. I expected better today from Ben Arfa. He still looked a little jaded from midweek.
Sammy - 6.5 - Great first half I don't know why he was taken off (though I think someone said he suffered with illness) however was great some great flick ons and touches to set up some great chances. Pressured their players on the ball well and was always available as an outlet. Looks like he has a great future ahead of him.

Shola - 2.5 - Lazy and lethargic today, didn't do anything really other than the header that really should have been converted. Unfortunately I feel the days of the Mackem Slayer are over. <cry>

De Jong - 5 - Some dangerous runs were made by De Jong however I feel he was lacking some match sharpness which was too be expected. I expect in the coming weeks he will be a handful for premier league defences
Dummett - 3 - Better than Santon... just.
Marveaux - 4 - Didn't do a lot but was available as an outlet as well as threading through some decent balls to De Jong

Pardew - 1 - Changed the team and the philosophy for one game, had we just stuck to who we are like we did against Norwich we would have won today, I have no doubt about it. He thought he was being clever setting up for a rough match and a 'traditional derby atmosphere' the problem was bar Willo & Shola no one else in that team wanted to play like that.
Add to the fact a Pineapple could motivate someone more than him and it was the perfect recipe for our downfall. I expect he will be embarrassed and so he should be, needs to show like last time the real NUFC and push on with good performances against Chelsea & Spurs, in fact apply that sentiment to the whole squad.

Krul 6- Not at fault for any of the goals, did well to stop Dozy on one occasion.

Debuchy 3- Worst game in ages, seemed to bottle it.
Williamson 5- Inconsistent
Taylor 5- Same as Williamson
Santon 3- Not convincing, don't dount his effort just doesn't seem to be good enough at left back

Anita 3- Below par, though midfield needed Cabaye as he offers something different.
Tiote 3- Seemed a bit scarred to tackle, most unlike him

Sissoko 4- Worked hard, got frustrated and kicked the Wonga board. No end product though
Ben Arfa 3- Seems to be stifled by Pardew's management.
Sammy 5- Had his moments, would have been in at 0-0 if O'Shea hadn't handball.

Shola 2- Needs to retire, can't even shoot with power anymore.

De Jong 3- Timid shots and looked like had a poor touch. Hope he gets better with game time.
Dummett 4
Marveaux 4

Pardew 1- Needs to go, though at this point I will now point out that two other people need to go before him and that is Mike Ashley and Joe Kinnear.

Krul - 6 - I'm not going to hold him account to anything and he did well to stop Altidore after Tiote's suicide pass.

Debuchy - 3 - Started brightly but it sooned turned very, very sour. Was made a mug of by Borini and Alonso.
Williamson - 4 - Chasing shadows all afternoon and made Altidore look far better than he is.
Taylor - 4 - Him and Williamson were as poor as each other. Allowed Sunderland to get in behind ridiculously easy.
Santon - 2 - Awful defending, awful set-pieces, awful delivery, awful player.

Anita - 3 - Completely out of sorts from recent weeks. Gave away a daft penalty.
Tioté - 4 - Extremely poor by his recent high standards.

Sissoko - 4 - I thought going forwards and choosing when to release the ball he was better than usual, but his shooting and taking people on was awful.
Ben Arfa - 3 - Never got out of Bardsley and Browns pockets.
Sammy - 6 - Surprisingly our best player. Shouldn't have been subbed.

Shola - 2 - Beyond awful.

De Jong - 4 - Better than Shola, but still not very good.
Dummett - 5 - Far better defensively than Santon, but still crap.
Marveaux - N/A

Pardew - 0.5

Krul -4 - Was unconvincing throughout. Did do well to stop Altidore scoring though.

Debuchy - 2.5 - Shocking performance. Hopefully a one off as he had won me over before his recent ban.
Williamson - 2.5 - Just embarrassing at times.
Taylor - 3.5 - Was almost as bad as Williamson but made a few notable tackles and blocks.
Santon - 1.5 - Still can't believe how bad he was.

Anita - 2 - I think this was his worst performance for us. He is one of the few players we have that actually uses his brain but even he was idiotic in this match when he gave the penalty away. The rest of the game passed him by as he was outplayed.
Tioté - 4.5 - Played pretty poorly and gave away possession in dangerous areas. Did make a few decent tackles and shots though.

Sissoko - 2 - Absolute trash. Normally quite inconsistent within a match but he was pretty much crap fro the whole game.
Ben Arfa - 3 - Was dealt with by their defenders pretty comfortably.
Sammy - 6 - Only player today who came out with any credit. Unlucky to be subbed.

Shola - 2 - Can't wait until he leaves this summer.

De Jong - 4 - Should have done better in the situations he found himself in. Probably down to lack of match sharpness.
Dummett - 3.5 - Better than Santon. The only positive I can think of.
Marveaux - 5 - Didn't do much but seemed positive. Hopefully see more of him form now on.

Pardew - 2.5 - Starting line-up was okay (although Mbiwa should have started). Subs were poor and general tactics were awful.

Krul - 6 - Goals weren't really his fault and he did the best he could with their second. Stopped it from being even more embarrassing.

Debuchy - 3 - Slow.
Williamson - 2 - Pointless long balls all game. Slow.
Taylor - 2 - Towing a caravan slow.
Santon - 1.5 - One of the worst performances I've ever seen from a Newcastle player. I think I may have been generous for the sake of TFI. Edit: f*** it, he's getting a 1.5

Anita - 3 - Clumsy.
Tioté - 4 - Our only highlight was his shot.

Sissoko - 5 - Average at best. Far too easily tackled
Ben Arfa - 2 - Headless chicken. Would rather make a headline than use the best option available to him.
Sammy - 5 - Looked difficult to tackle and I'd have kept him on.

Shola - 2 - Dreadful.

De Jong - 5 - Got himself about but shooting was awful.
Dummett - 5 - Much better than Santon and should've come on after half an hour.
Marveaux - 4 - Didn't really do anything.

Pardew - 2 - Tactics, team and subs were awful.
Kindly deeds done for free!

Krul - 5 - Stopped Altidore very easily; I suspect Johnson, for example, might have jinked past. Seemed edgier than normal. Flailed at a few crosses.

Debuchy - 3 - I hated the moment when (Alonso?) chased down that long ball forward by the corner flag. As bad as he's been.
Williamson - 5 I didn't think he was that bad. Perhaps we've built him up and expect more than we should not.
Taylor - 5
Santon - 3 Poor set pieces. Lacked strength and presence.

Anita - 4 - Couldn't get going.
Tioté - 3 - Some strong play but that pass across the goal. Ugh.

Sissoko - 3 - Poor choices. That smash across goal at the end of the first half. Agh.
Ben Arfa - 3 - It didn't happen for him, and seemed very weak for the third goal.
Sammy - 4 Yes, some good moments but also pushed off the ball very easily by Bardsley.

Shola - 4 He's the target man and he won some good balls in the air. There was nobody around him to capitalise. Too easy of a target I feel.

De Jong - 5 Found space at times but shots were fragile. I hope he gets better as didn't look particularly strong or fast.
Dummett - 4 Didn't like that challenge on the touchline. Seemed to lose his head there. Crosses lacked pace.
Marveaux - 4 Wasn't particularly involved.

Pardew - 5 I could see the thinking behind the substitutions. It was the players that underperformed today.
