Agree with the Aimar mention, I really wanted him. Colo, Jonas and Aimar were due to arrive but it fell through because of wage demands if I remember rightly.

I really wanted Rooney to sign back in the day.
I was in Spain when the whole rumour was flying round, and it literally had me at the edge of my deckchair. I can remember being in a waterpark and seeing the headline on the back of either The Sun or The Mirror saying "Roo Can't Afford Him!". Basically Freddie taunting Sir Alex and nearly jumping for joy thinking we could be about to sign him. Luckily I didn't jump too soon
I also really wanted us to sign Chris Gunter when we got relegated after he was linked with us.
