That one pissed me off when I heard about it, similarly to Dszudzsak (sp) moving to Anzhi Mackackala (sp) last season!Nick wrote:Derdiyok to Hoffenheim

He was at Anzhi for half a season, then Dynamo Moscow bought him hahaaginairrr wrote:That one pissed me off when I heard about it, similarly to Dszudzsak (sp) moving to Anzhi Mackackala (sp) last season!Nick wrote:Derdiyok to Hoffenheim

Just money grabbing. I understand players going in there last years of there career to get that final pay day, but it does my head in when people go in the peak years of there career.biggeordiedave wrote:I f***ing hate it when decent players go and play for s***ty arsed teams like that. To be honest, I can understand Etto going. If you were over the hill, and someone offered to make you the best paid player in the world, you'd take it. As for Sow? Well, Fenerbache aren't dreadful - they're at least as good as we are. They do get in the CL every year, usually to the group stage, which is not to be sniffed at.biggeordiedave wrote:I f***ing hate it when decent players go and play for s***ty arsed teams like that. I can't fault him for leaving for the European side of it, but the Turkish league itself is piss poor. A player like Sow could've easily moved to a half decent Spanish or English side if he'd wanted to. I can see why older players would do it certainly, but younger players becoming mercenaries so early on in their careers is pretty depressing.Speedo wrote:To be honest, I can understand Etto going. I suppose it depends on your priorities? If just going for the paycheque, then I completely agree. But if you care more about playing in Europe than playing in the top 3 leagues, going to a top club in Turkey that will (possibly) play in Champions League isn't necessarily a step down (I don't think he could have gone to a Champions League club in the top couple leagues).biggeordiedave wrote:I can't fault him for leaving for the European side of it, but the Turkish league itself is piss poor. Think lots of players remember the Keegan days and know us from then. Quite a few seem to mention it when they sign.Papisto wrote:to be fair, i bet fans of other teams are baffled as to why players like Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Santon, Cisse joined us, only thing we had on our side then was that we are in the premier league
You cant really compare a newly hyped player going off to some obscure team in a lesser league for money, to a player going to a decent sized club in best league in the world though...Papisto wrote:to be fair, i bet fans of other teams are baffled as to why players like Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Santon, Cisse joined us, only thing we had on our side then was that we are in the premier league

well players like sow had 1 good season and has gone to a champions league team. its a very arrogant stance to think you can deem teams and leagues unworthy for certain players. if all the best players in the world stayed in 2 - 3 leagues it could practically kill a lot of associations.Nick wrote:You cant really compare a newly hyped player going off to some obscure team in a lesser league for money, to a player going to a decent sized club in best league in the world though...Papisto wrote:to be fair, i bet fans of other teams are baffled as to why players like Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Santon, Cisse joined us, only thing we had on our side then was that we are in the premier league
When that Anzhi team clicks, it's going to be a real force.Papisto wrote:all it takes is the right signings and running of the club and some of these Russian teams can compete with the likes of barcelona and real ect.
Except they can only play 3 non Russian players in each game (at a time) and are notorious for selling off players soon after buying them. If they buy Russian then they can be brilliant, but as they are at the moment, it'll take a long time for them to become a truly great team.Ammy wrote:When that Anzhi team clicks, it's going to be a real force.Papisto wrote:all it takes is the right signings and running of the club and some of these Russian teams can compete with the likes of barcelona and real ect.
