Re: Weekend football - 10/13 April 2026

Iraola, Silva, McKenna, Southgate and Lampard haven't done anything to suggest they'd be any sort of upgrade on Howe.

I agree with your overall point. The candidates aren't inspiring.

But even if someone isn't an upgrade on Howe... if Howe's methods have become stale a new face can be a ...

Re: Big summer blow out!

Murphy in the attacking role is similar where he's happy being on the bench, however attackers are meant to be game changers and he's not able to change a game anymore. So I agree it's time to go.

Who would be a good replacement? A realistic target

I don't follow broader football as closely nowadays but this is my question.
The elite clubs seem to suffer from a lack of top managers. If Liverpool, Man U can't find one, how can we?

Remember how Amorim's appointment was greeted warmly as ...

How big a reset should the summer be?

I'm seeing gossip about Tonali, Gordon and Bruno. City want Tino I think.

Got me wondering, is it maybe in the clubs interest to do a big reset? Sell the big names and reinvest in younger talent.
As I see it, we will have to find a solution from Nick/Wissa/Osula next year, too much invested to buy ...

I worry about nick how often he loses duels. Not just aerial ones but ball on the ground too. You can bully him off the ball

Re: VAR - what would you do?

I think I prefer the appeals route to the time limit. The slight concern being that having made the appeal a subjective decision might be weighted in favour of the appealing team.

The whole thing is a can of worms regardless, it will never ever be a perfect system.

Re: VAR - what would you do?

I like the time limit and sticking to "clear and obvious". Not spending 5 mins searching for reasons to disallow.

I'd be fine with no VAR but it seems unlikely

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Wolves

We can seemingly either be free scoring and brilliant going forwards but lose all ability to defend completely. Or solid at the back, dominant in possession but lose all ability to create / finish chances. Need to try and find a bit of a balance.
